Don’t order cocktails.

We had been there more than 10 times. We love to support Jamie, the owner, for many years since she and David had opened OTP.

I was not feeling for beer today, so I ordered a white linen. Kylee took my order and the drink came as just “gin and cucumber.” I questioned where is the St Germaine, she said 1/4 oz in it and you shouldn’t taste it. If not able to taste it, why you put it in???

I asked for St Germaine for extra charge…still the taste wasn’t right but drinkable . For sure, it wasn’t $22 worth for the drink.

I had to wash my mouth with something better after that. So, we went to Umai. They did amazing work for $11. It didn’t taste like cucumber pickle drink. I truly enjoyed it and sipping it for a long time, instead of chugging.

My husband is a big beer fan, but I’m so sorry I am totally done with Prost. I’m not going back.

Side note: When I was venting about Prost at Umai bartender, a lady next me said “we go Prost often for beer but the server…it’s not Kylee, right? She speaks well, but she isn’t good at all.” How funny!!! She is famous!

This is how it went: Kylee said “White Linen is my fav” so my expectations were high. Then, when I questioned about the quality ( I ordered Ehite Lines, not cucumber and gin) she said “I gonna yelled at the bartender.” She came back saying, “1/4oz is in. If you want more St Germaine, will be extra charge.” I asked “please give me extra St Germaine.” …after that she had never asked either follow up questions, such as “is it better?”

Truly, they had added TOO MUCH cucumbers. 3 slices of cucumber is ONLY a garnish. Obviously, the bartender didn’t know what he was doing. Ditch any cocktails. Prost is...

Was in town visiting and my mom wanted to try this German restaurant.

Hostess and server were good and attentive.

Drinks - not sure why they can't make hot water to a glass of hot water?? Weird. The Cosmo was thin, over shaken?? Tasted like a watered down version of a drink.

Appetizer - the croquettes were pretty good. Crispy outside and creamy inside and cheese sauce was pretty good. But, the sauerkraut and bacon was nowhere to be found.

Fall Apple Salad - my wife thought this was great. She enjoyed this. Dressing was fresh and light and a well balanced dish

My mom and I both ordered the Haus Plate with the pork schnitzel. Outside of the cutlet, this was a disappointment. The cutlet was pretty thick, crispy outside and moist tender inside. Well cooked. Now, the sauerkraut was awful. Served cold and likely just scooped out of the jar, blegh. The rotkohl was way underdone. Needs lots more time on the simmer and unbalanced flavor. Not enough sweet for the sour. And served room temperature....no! Mashed potatoes were good. Didn't need the steamed veggies which were out of place for a German plate and lastly the gravy was a light brown mushroom gravy that lacked any depth.

I would say if you want a couple apps and a stein of beer and maybe a salad, go for it. Otherwise, the German side of the menu was...

I've been wanting to check this place out for some time now, and my husband and I finally got to after dropping the kids off at a Parents Night Out. 😆 The building is a historical building, and it's lovely to see. There's a long bar with seats, two other counters with a row of higher chairs each, and large community tables. The beers are always rotating, because most are limited quantities. While we wanted to try the beer, we got cocktails this trip. The apple crisp mule was incredible! It was a ginger apple pie in liquid form and delicious! The cranberry margarita was really good, but it was hard to compare to the mule. We ordered the potato pancakes and the sausage platter to share. The sausage platter was outstanding. Wonderful flavors in the sausages (we got to pick 2 out of three sausage options), and great condiments and sides. There was nothing wrong with the potato pancakes, but we make a Polish version at home and I was hoping for something a little different. They were very crispy, and good to share, but they didn't seem to be on the danger level as everything else we got. The server we had was so wonderfully informative, and he checked in with us the right amount. All the food is made in house, and...

This place is a solid addition to Elk Grove. Nothing like it at all in the area! We learned later (from instagram) that the same people own this and Old Town Pizza in Elk Grove. It's great they offer European beers - will fulfill that craving (or be a new experience for you, if you've never had that before!). I'm still learning German beers, so can't give strong recommendations -- but my typical question to waiters when I go to these kinds of beer halls is: "I like the Korbinian, what do you recommend that's something similar?" (or I google it). 5/5 stars if you're coming for the beer. Just so unique of a place for Elk Grove. 3/5 for food. Could use some work. We came on a Sunday, during the middle of lunch and dinner. Can't say there was anything particularly bad, but nothing particularly blew my mind. Lots of reviews talking about the large pretzel (which we didn't get) Has a lot of potential! Would definitely come back (maybe later in the night, on a weekend) to see how the vibe differs. Lots of seating so good for groups

We attended the first week of opening and you can tell they are working out the kinks. Food isn’t for me, but my husband loved everything they ate, except the Bitterballen. We also went on a day that peaked 100°+ and they had practically NO AC. It was hot and overwhelming. At the very least they need to bring in fans. The building is also a historical building, so the noise of everyone’s chatter, combined with the normal restaurant sounds can create an environment where your literally yelling to hear the person sitting next to you. Another negative is parking. Good luck on finding ANY spot nearby. We had to park at the funeral home down the street. Pretzel and beer cheese is worth every penny.
