Brickyard Counter & Bar — Restaurant in California

We’ve been here numerous times and have always enjoyed this place. We love the atmosphere and that our kids are able to run around while we eat and drink. The food has always been great and the drinks are good as well. Unfortunately, tonight we were there with some friends and our one year old child. We were originally on the patio just hanging out, and my friend and I noticed that a DJ had started playing music inside, so we went inside and started dancing. After awhile my one year old was getting antsy, so my husband brought him inside to me. My one year old loves music and to dance and once brought inside, many other patrons were oogling over him and talking about how cute he was. We were just dancing as I held him on my hip. He was totally calm, not yelling or fussy, just smiling as he does at home when music is playing. Shortly after, we were approached by an employee who didn’t identify themselves as a manager or anything and told us that they were trying to “promote a club atmosphere” and “minors weren’t allowed.” He then walked away. There was never an announcement stating that this was 21+ and to us this place always seemed like a family friendly restaurant. It wasn’t all that late either, only 9:30pm. If they are trying to promote a club atmosphere on a Thursday night then they should probably advertise that better or make an announcement. Yes, I checked their social media and it was not stated anywhere that this was 21+. Also, I was under the impression that this was a restaurant AND bar not just a bar. I would never bring my child to a bar, but as I stated previously this has always seemed like a family friendly restaurant. I could understand if this was a Friday or Saturday after 10pm, but it was a Thursday at 9:30. Just overall really disappointed in a place, we’ve enjoyed many...

First time here, and it was a great experience. I failed to specify "well done" for my burger, and I noticed after the first couple of bites that it was more rare than I prefer. They grilled me another one, and it was great! But, it was the service related to this that really impressed me.

The young lady who was taking down the Halloween decorations (I didn't catch her name) is who I spoke with regarding my burger. She was very kind and professional, and assured me that it was no problem for them to cook me a new burger. She even apologized that it would take an additional 15 or 20 minutes. She was great!

My well done burger was brought out by the young man who was doing table service (didn't catch his name either, but there was only one at that time). He also was very professional and did a great job! They even brought me a fresh order of fries! I apologized again for not asking it to be well done when I placed my order, and he smiled and said not to worry about it.

This may not seem like a big deal to some, but the professionalism and kindness displayed by these two young people really made an impression on me, and I would absolutely eat here again! The gentleman behind the bar also provided great service! You actually place your food orders with him and get your drinks and drink refills from him. We were there about 12:15 on Friday afternoon.

The others in my party loved their food, as well. One ordered the pulled pork sandwich, one had the cheeseburger, and the other person had tacos.

First time at this restaurant, did not know it's a counter order style restaurant before I came in with my kids. No instructions anywhere. I waited in line to ask bartender who also takes all orders at the counter and was then informed about it. Then, after taking the menu had to go in line again to order. Not a big deal but I'm not a fan of tipping before getting food. I got my mojito drink right away and had to sit and wait for kids drinks and our food. We ordered 3 pizzas, cheese pizza with white garlic sauce, 2nd was custom pizza, we wanted to do Hawaiian with white sauce but they do not have Canadian bacon or ham so ordered bacon instead, and 3rd was margarita pizza. Also, ordered pulled pork mac n cheese. First, 2 pizzas were brought in, I then asked about kids drinks, then drinks were brought in and another pizza and then mac n cheese later. All the food was overall good but food was brought in barely warm and mac n cheese sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. No one comes and checks on you and you have to get up at the end of the meal to look for to go boxes. I had to wait to talk to bartender about to go boxes and then he had one of the servers bring it. The place did not excite me at all in service or food, and I don't think I would come back here again based...
