The wife and I were in the Folsom area, so we stayed for 12 days at the Holiday Inn. Unfortunately, our stay was less than satisfying as the staff wasn't helpful, and the facilities seemed to have deferred a lot of maintenance. However, the location being right in the Town Center was great as you could walk to everything you needed.
Upon arriving, I found that the door locks would often take 5 tries with the key to open the door. And once the lock would recognize the key, the handle was very hard to turn. Unfortunately this wasn't an isolated occurrence as laundry door was just as difficult, and I even watch one of the service staff put her key in the staff break room 10 times and it never did open. I even asked one of the front desk staff why the doors were so difficult to open and I was told "maybe we want you to get your exercise". Really!?
Another issue we had was getting change for the laundry and the maintenance of the washer and dryer. I asked the same front desk staff member who wanted me to get a workout for change for the laundry. Her reply was that there was a bank across the parking lot. Frustrated, I picked up change the next day at Target and went to the laundry room to use the washer and dryer. After putting quarters in the washer, it decided to not accept the remainder needed, and it didn't return what I had already inserted. My "favorite" front desk person was again working, so I told her about the washer not working. Her response was that she's have maintenance look at it on Monday. Really? So, I asked for the change that wasn't returned, and again, the person told me she couldn't give me any change. Instead, I got dollars, which I had to take to Target to get change for when the laundry room was serviced on Monday.
There were numerous other issues that we experienced after staying for 12 days, but to me the real reason for the issues were that several of the staff were just lazy. For instance, the men's room on the main floor was out of TP on Wednesday and really needed to be cleaned. On Friday, the restroom still hadn't been serviced, so I asked the person at the front desk if it could be serviced. The restroom was finally serviced on Sunday. I realize that staffing might not be at normal levels, but cleaning a common restroom once every 5 days just doesn't seem right.....or sanitary.
Overall, the quality of our stay was very...
Read moreI have written about this hotel before and after yet another wonderful stay I feel that I need to write again, just in case anyone missed the previous reviews of what I consider to be the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I have just completed a 9 night stay there, part of the stay was business and part of the stay was pleasure. The HIE in El Dorado Hills caters perfectly for both of these travel goals. The great location gives you everything you need. Whether it's ample parking at the hotel front to help you get all your bags in and out of the car with no effort, or whether it is the nearby coffee shops or restaurants that are great for an end of day wind down session or even a late night Latte, or maybe just relax at the side of the town center pond with a drink from one of the bars, there is something for everyone. The hotel staff are all wonderful and caring, they make you feel welcome and will go out of their way to help you. Really, it's everyone from the front desk, to the cleaning staff, the breakfast staff and the management, they all play a part in delivering a wonderfully warm and relaxing experience. The rooms are tastefully decorated, well maintained and exceptionally clean. The beds are comfortable and there is a nice arm chair with an ottoman which is just right for putting your feet up and watching television with a can of something to drink. I especially enjoyed my Sunday breakfast which I took outside to eat in the pool area, it was really nice to sit there with a hot coffee and the view of the hills. On the business side of things, there is a well equipped business center where you can get some printing done, in the rooms there is an excellent work station set up with very good WiFi, a comfortable adjustable chair and spacious desk, so when you aren't relaxing you can get some work done. I have recommended this hotel to all my friends and business partners, whether you are on business or travelling for fun, I recommend...
Read moreI have been going to this hotel for 15 years and in the past year, under Jenna Hoyt’s management, things have gone progressively downhill. On my most recent stay, the hotel had contractors, working on the Wi-Fi, but did not notify the gas until after the fact, so I had a strange man knock on my door and want to “Change my cables”. This was more than a little disconcerting, because I was traveling alone, and he did not look like a Hotel employee. I explain to him that I was on zoom interviews and would be for the rest of the afternoon. I contacted the front desk and they informed me of what was going on, again after the fact. After telling the first man and the front desk that my room would not be available, a second person knocked on my door about an hour later. The really scary part was that the hotel had given these contractors keys to the rooms and he tried to enter my room during my interview. Thankfully, I had the top latch on, and he only got the door open partway. This was so scary for me and the people I was on zoom with, that it took me a minute to get my composure. ||||When my interviews were over, I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. Jenna Hoyt came out with no apology, and started arguing with me about how she needed this done. I was blown away by the lack of professionalism, lack of understanding, and overall rudeness and aggression. ||||I will never stay in this hotel again. My safety and privacy are of paramount importance, and this hotel doesn’t seem to understand either anymore. ||||Oh and icing on the cake, my Wi-Fi wasn’t working at all the following day....
