Cafe 88 — Restaurant in California

We had the chocolate croissants at this place and it was good! They had/have no decaffeinated coffee. Covid-19 guidelines allowed for limited dine-in seating when we went, so my husband ordered for breakfast —once the Denver Omelet (menu#1) and —another time the Sonoma Grand Slam (menu#3). He was looking forward to a dine-in hot breakfast but on both times, his orders came cold upon each receipt. And then, menu#3 came to him with no butter nor syrup for the two little pancakes so he had to get in line again for those. One time, I ordered the Wonton (Egg Noodle) Soup. I was disappointed that the egg noodles looked like spaghetti noodles rather than the “typical traditional” Vietnamese egg noodles; to me, the broth was not very tasty. Another time, I ordered the Banh-Mi sandwich (menu#27)—the menu states it includes pâté but my sandwich had absolutely no pate. The second time, I ordered it again and this time I specified to make sure to include pate on the sandwich as it was left out the previous time. But the sandwich came with a tiny thin dab on the corner of the bread (I would’ve wanted a taste of pate at each bite of my sandwich!). When I brought it back to ask for more pate “on the side,” the counter clerk literally took my sandwich back to the kitchen to ask the sandwich maker if that was the typical amount of pate put on the sandwiches. When the clerk returned to the counter with my sandwich, she said that’s the typical amount of pate put on sandwiches and it would cost me an additional $2 to put more pate. However, in view of Covid guidelines, I’m not sure if it was appropriate but I was amazed that they took the sandwich back from me and brought it back to the kitchen and then back...

Very poor service. We were in line and one person was ahead of us ( me and my two guests) so we thought the other register was open, but the person standing there was just a server. So after the person who was ahead of us was served, we are supposed to be the next to be served, but a Chinese couple came inserted in front of us, so we decided to wait after they finished serving them , but I complained to staff that they serve the people first that inserted in front of us, and the manager was telling us to go back to the line. So I explained to him that we were ahead than these couple but the were served first. The manager name Alexander won’t even listen yo me and insisting that we have to go back in line. Very unprofessional manager. I told him I will make a complain how they treat...

We had breakfast there on 9/16/25. Initially, the service we received was okay, but then when they brought our our food, they screwed it up that the extra side I ordered, was placed in my companions plate. They had the audacity to tell me that I should scoop out my share of the side out of my companion's plate! When I dared to ask if the side in my companion's plate equate to two orders of it, the wait staff gave me major attitude!! Absolutely unacceptable behavior. We will never ever dine...
