The baked goods, prepared sandwiches, everything are absolutely the best in Santa Cruz county in my opinion. So why the 2* review? First, their in-store service has to be the most unfriendly there is, but I get it, there’s a long line. However, they are incredibly inefficient which creates the long line. But I could deal with that because of the quality of the goods. What I cannot deal with is the false advertising in their loyalty program. It’s literally misleading customers. When you sign up with your phone number you enter their loyalty program. Every purchase, no matter how small or large, earns you one points. When you try to redeem it, it says “redeem for an item up to $6.50” value. Sounds good? Not so much. Because the item is limited to “a drink”. Not what it says (item), but a drink. So here I am wanting to redeem said loyalty points but no such luck. Because if I want a good coffee and I want it without waiting for another 15 minutes I go to Cat&Cloud (whose coffee they sell). Came here with my partner on Sunday morning and got their pecan morning bun and chocolate sea salt cookie. We had some of the cookie while we were waiting for a coffee and it was completely dry and crumbly. I mentioned to my partner that it tasted like it was at least a day old (almost every other bakery I've been to sells day old products at half price).

Before leaving I asked one of the employees if they knew if that batch of cookies was baked this morning. He replied that it had indeed been baked the day before, but that "they do that for a reason." I worked for a bakery in SF and honestly don't know what reason a bakery would purposefully make a cookie dry and crumbly for service the next day.

Later that day I tried the pecan bun and while it tasted fine, again, the texture was not like the light n fluffy morning buns I've had at star bakeries. It leads me to almost think they bake everything there the day before and let it sit to get stale for service...

I’m not letting the service get in the way of the food, baked goods. Delicious is an understatement for how incredibly delicious there baked treats are, aaaalthough the service is bad. A teenager was working the cashier, and I guess it was time for her break. Whilst I was waiting in line at the end for about 10 minutes. As soon as I come up ( let it be known I’m the last person standing in line ) she gets up places a “be back soon” sign on the counter, even glares at me for a second with a sassy face which I didn’t bother noticing at first, and she leaves cold shouldering me without saying a word! I decided to Wait it out and hold my spot in line. Long story short, I was waiting about 20 minutes. Finally the cashier comes up takes my order all goes well the end. Not a good experience.
