Fantastic food, large portions, and very reasonable prices! My friend and I ordered the super nachos with chicken and 2 tamale plate with chile verde pork and chicken. Everything was delicious! However, we struggled to finish our food because there was so much of it! Also, you know you're a good chef when your chicken is great, and the chicken here was perfectly juicy, tasty, and tender. This place also features a free salsa and chip bar; I tried the fire roasted salsa and avocado salsa and liked both.
Menu items largely comprise of familiar Mexican classics such as tacos, burritos, chile rellenos, tamales, quesadillas, soups, salads, and rice and beans. The ordering system is informal; just walk up to the front counter and order off the overhead menu. Make your choice of meat, beans, rice, veggies and cheese. Lunch and dinner specials are available; as well as take out options.
The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere. Food service is friendly and fast, but table service is basically non-existent. Once you order, you choose your own table or booth. Utensils, napkins, soft drinks, and hot sauce are available near the salsa bar, but you have to serve yourself. Table clean up was slow, but not really a problem if most of the tables are empty, like they were when I visited. Still, I would have preferred if table service was a little more proactive.
The restaurant is very spacious, with storybook-like paintings of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza on the walls. Lots of seating is available, with additional...
Read moreAbsolutely thrilled to share my fantastic experience at Don Quixote's Mexican Grill in Sacramento, CA! This hidden gem in the Carmichael area has won my heart with its quick and friendly service, authentic Mexican flavors, and delightful ambiance.
From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was not only prompt but also incredibly friendly, making the dining experience truly enjoyable.
Now, let's talk about the food – outstanding! I opted for the veggie burrito, and it was a flavor explosion. The ingredients were fresh, and the combination of flavors was simply mouthwatering. Each bite felt like a journey through the rich culinary traditions of Mexico.
The salsa and chips deserve a special mention. The salsa was vibrant and had the perfect balance of spices, while the chips were crispy and served as the ideal accompaniment. It's evident that the attention to detail in the preparation of every dish sets Don Quixote's apart.
Overall, my visit to Don Quixote's Mexican Grill was a delightful experience, and I can't wait to go back. If you're a fan of authentic Mexican cuisine served with a side of warm hospitality, this place is a must-try. Highly...
Read moreWas super excited to try this place out! I was impressed when I walked in the door at the fast service, the wonderful smells that filled the air and how yummy the food looked! My friends ordered burritos that looked so amazing!! I ordered the quesabirria tacos with the consume, and I was asked if I wanted everything, I said yes. Everything meant cilantro and onions. I can appreciate the flavors from both the cilantro and the onion but in moderation. I was so excited to get my food, and from the looks of it, I couldn't wait to take a bite! I was disappointed to bite into what tasted like an onion taco. There was SO much onion. Like, it was ridiculous. Also, very little meat, BUT as I bit into it, there was a chunk of something in my first taco that was so gross that I had to spit it out. I looked at the chunk, and it looked like meat, but it certainly didn't taste like meat. Blehh!! I was totally skeptical to eat anymore, so I opened up all 3 of my tacos and emptied out all the onions. Thankfully, there were no more chunks of anything. I enjoyed the dipping sauce and the cheese in the tacos. I will go back but I won't order that dish again unless I get it...
