Eastbound Bar & Grill — Restaurant in California

I have been a long time Patron of Eastbound; and had not had issues there in the past. TONIGHT was the very worst experience and I will NOT be returning there any time soon. It was Steak night, but they ran out of steak. There were minimal open tables and no 2 open seats together at the bar. We took a seat at a small table, ordered our drinks, found out they ran out of steak. As we were waiting for our drinks and the menus an employee came to our table and said we could not sit there that there was a wait list. Mind you there was no one waiting outside or just standing around. When I mentioned there was no notification on the table indicating that the table has been reserved and said there was no one outside or just standing around I was told that they were off sitting at the bar I asked if they could ask them to switch with us we would be happy to sit at the bar and they can take the cable and that was not acceptable I am very very disappointed with the way we were treated and dismissed I just woke to establishment that I have been going to for years . So we took off and went to Black Angus just up the road a bit and had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed ourself bear I think we may be making his Black Angus I'll go to spot from this point forward and...

Big bar area inside. Large nice outdoor seating area. Had propane heaters to take chill off. Unfortunately they couldn’t get the one by us going. Good grouping of beers on tap and some specialty drinks they tout on menu. Menu was of bar food variety, but a notch above your typical bar. Walk up service outside and then they bring it to your table. 8 of us and no one had a bad meal. Comes out hot and portions are very adequate. Only quirky thing was the outdoor drink service. If you were outside you had to order from outside order taker. You could not go inside and order a drink to bring back out. Kinda a hassle to be 5th in line behind people ordering food when you only want a beer and the bartender inside isn’t busy. Even if you’re paying cash the bartender said she couldn’t serve me because I was seated outside. I’m sure they have their reasons, but it’s a goofy rule. Would recommend if your looking for bar food, quick service and good draft beer options. The outside is kid friendly with large area to play in, video games and riding horse machine. My wife Iived in Lakeside for years and used to go to Eastbound all the time with her family when they first opened. Unfortunately, in recent years the service and the food quality have gone down tremendously. We keep going back to give it a second chance. Today we went in and it wasn't too crowded. There were six seats open at the bar. So we sat down eventhough it wasn't cleaned off yet. Ashley, the bar tender did come and clear the plates but didn't wipe off the counter and when we ordered drinks she put my wifes drink on a used, wet coaster, from the previous patrons. After a couple of minutes, we had to ask someone to please wipe the counter down because it was gross and we had to ask for a menu. My beer and my wifes bloody Mary were warm. Our waitress Ashley, was not friendly or welcoming. However, she did make sure all the men at the bar had their drinks right away, including me, lol. Sadly, I think we've given it its last chance. The worst part is there's not a lot of places to go to in Lakeside, so everyone's kind of stuck going here regardless of the food and the service.
