My wife an I have been wanting to est here for a while now and today (November 15th 2019) we finally did and it was absolutely worth it. The cafe is located right off of highway 67 and Mapleview Street making the parking very limited. We went around 11am and there was a decent amount of parking still available. We were promptly greated by the owners wife who also seated us. Our drink orders were taken and then quickly brought out. The waitress took our daughters order first (my wife and I were still deciding what to order.) After taking mine and my wife's order an acceptable time later our food was brought out to the table. Our food was hot but, not so hot that we had to let it cool off before we could eat it. Our 4 year old daughter ordered the Spanky (the kids menu is called The Little Rascals menu meaning, every item is named after a character from the show) which is two pancakes, eggs to order, and bacon. My wife ordered the California omelet with hashbrowns and I ordered Liz's Smoke Turkey sandwich (served open faced) with mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. Smothered it was, the whole sandwich and potatoes were covered in brown gravy. My wife's omelet came with house made guacamole that was crazy tasty and slightly chunky. The food was really good and the portions were plentiful this is a place where you either try everything on the menu or you have your standard order. The dinning area is cozy but, not to the point where you will feel crowded, there is plenty of space to move around. The walls are adorned with vintage toys and pop culture memorabilia. There is just enough of it to not distract from your meal or where it feels tacky. The cafe has a very welcoming and comforting atmosphere that will make you want to come back again and again. They do offer a military discount for those that apply. I highly recommend this place and I would come back...
Read moreStopped in on a whim for breakfast, we’ve driven by so many times but today was the day. We were welcomed by such friendly waitstaff and our food arrived quickly and was so well prepared my foodie daughter commented on how good it is.
She had the pancake combo with bacon and over medium eggs with a side of toast. She is very finicky about eggs but these were perfectly to her expectations and, in her words, delicious! She also loved how fluffy the pancakes are, she very much enjoyed her breakfast and even ate some of my breakfast potatoes.
I had the breakfast burrito with potatoes. The salsa was very good, not too spicy but flavorful and yummy. I love that the burrito has black olives in it and the onions and peppers were cooked just right. The eggs were also cooked perfectly, I am also picky about eggs and always feel like I’m taking a risk ordering eggs but these were great.
The servings are huge, a great value for the price.
The owner stopped by our table to check on how we were doing and stayed a while to chat. I love friendly service and kind people, I truly enjoyed our interesting conversation and that he engaged my daughter and asked her questions too. We will be visiting his other restaurant in El Cajon the next time we are in the area.
My daughter says this place has great service. She’s eaten at many places, even outside of this country, so for her to notice and remark on this is very meaningful. She she’s definitely right!
Clean, cozy, the temperature is nice, it smells good in here and the bathroom was well kept. With all of this, we highly recommend checking...
Read moreI've only been here a few times, but they don't disappoint! If anything, they just get better! I'm ashamed of the people that have made the choice to stay at home and let the rest of us work, when there are plenty of jobs to be had! Cafe 67 has a sign out front saying that they are temporarily closed on Mondays due to staffing issues. What a shame! I really hope that people who are eating out right now during this staffing shortage are taking into consideration that we are being served by a human being, who probably has bills to pay and mouths to feed and a life worth living. Please be patient and realize they are working to earn a living just like....... Well, most of us! Remember to leave a tip and help them achieve their goals. It also gives them incentive to show up to work and be there the next time we don't want to fix our own meal! Be kind. As for today's visit... My best friend and I enjoyed the guys that helped us! Should have gotten names, but we were chatting and forgot. But one really nice guy got our waters and shared some humor. Then our waiter came along and checked on us twice before we knew what to order. He was very pleasant and he also had a good sense of humor. Everyone was busy, but they were all courteous and friendly! Food! Very satisfying! I love crispy hash browns and that is exactly what I received! I didn't want to be a pig, but I cleaned that plate! Thank you, to those who choose to go to work and provide a service and make an honest living, no...
