great thing about this place is you can schedule a free tasting, which is one on one or with a friend, full size samples of what you will be getting. I went with a friend, the ladies there are extremely nice. I ordered both the pregnancy and postpartum meals, the amount of food per day is enough to last me 1.5days, and they are accommodating to let me stretch out my delivery to once every other day. I was able to stretch 60 days of meals (30pregnancy n 30 postpartum) into almost 4 months, with room to sometimes add in my own food/ fruits. they deliver in the am fresh and warm each day, which saves me so much time and energy from buy/cook/wash/prepare if i were to make my own meals. not to mention their soups and food is different everyday, tailored to specific needs of pregnant/ postpartum women. if you were to cook on your own, inevitably you will have to eat the same food leftover from previous days.
the only thing about this is, they do include four big bowls of soup per day (to replenish water for breastfeeding moms). also their meals are prepared low fat, low sugar, low sodium. if you dont like soup or like more flavorful food this may not be that exciting for you.
you can, however, send in specific request if theres certain food you dont want to receive. for example i love fish soups so they include more of that for me. some moms dont like any internal organs so they can exclude that too.
they really work with you to make sure you are happy. im very thankful and glad i ordered with them for the...
Read moreWe had four days of meals with Jen Health Meals -- the food tastes great, and up until recently, we had plenty of positive experiences. Unfortunately, our most recent order left us puzzled (and not in the "hmm, what's this new flavor?" kind of way). We found a cigarette butt in one of our soups. Yes, you read that right -- dinner came with a surprise side of nicotine.
To their credit, Jen Meals' customer service manager Tiffany was responsive and apologetic (screenshots attached for transparency). But the bigger concern is that they couldn't guarantee this wouldn't happen again. Their own words suggested they're still trying to figure out how a cigarette got into their kitchen when none of their staff supposedly smokes. Not exactly the type of mystery you want served with your congee and herbal tea. .
Look, mistakes happen, but as a consumer, it's hard to enjoy food when there's a possibility of finding... well, anything besides food. The meals are tasty, but I'd encourage anyone considering Jen Meals to think twice and maybe ask a few extra questions about their food handling practices. After all, you shouldn't need to worry about secondhand smoke...
Read moreMy wife is due in March next year and I have been searching for a place like Jen's Healthy Meal to take care of her food during the first month after our baby is born. I came across Jen's name on line and they had some good reviews, so I went to their website and I liked their food. We contacted Grace, and she was really nice and arranged a free tasting session for us on Saturday. Their office was welcoming and everyone was very friendly and professional. My wife really liked the food, especially the fish soup, so we decided to book the meal right away. We highly recommend Jen's...
