Walked in on Sunday for lunch with a group of 4 people. The place was mostly empty. There was a sign that said wait to be seated but the waitress said " you can sit anywhere you like". We decided to sit at a table rather than a booth to have extra room but the waitress said that we couldn't sit there because it was a table for eight persons. She decided that we only needed a booth instead. I looked around and the place wasn't full and there wasn't many people eating. I told her that I wanted a table. She immediately became angry and started cussing at me in Chinese and yelling at me in front of the whole restaurant making racist remarks. I asked my group of people if was ok to leave? We all agreed that a customer should be able to sit anywhere you like especially when you are a paying customer. There is no need to be rude or yell and cuss at your customers in a foreign language. Needless to say we shall never return and mark this place as non American friendly. This place prefers to serve Chinese only. Paying Americans with cash in hand should stay away unless you want to...
Read moreYunnan Garden is seriously one of my favorite restaurants. I make it a point to visit it every so often, if not just for takeout. Everyone I have brought and recommended here has become a regular.
It's the kind of place where you gotta go with someone who knows the ropes. Not everything here is authentically delicious, but if you know what to order, you'll leave one happy customer.
You can't go wrong with any of the cold dishes up front. It's 3 for $5.50. I usually order the pig ears (not spicy) and tofu, and save the 3rd for whatever else I feel like that particular day. Everything made day of so it's super fresh, but beware, they'll run out at the end of the night of the popular ones!
As for dishes, the Water Boiled items are the BEST in the 626. I also regularly order the Pork with Garlic Sauce*, Fried Chicken, Cumin Lamb and Spicy Wontons.
Still need help ordering? I'm available for hire, lunches and dinners :)

The best Spicy Food Restaurant in Southern California in the Valley rivaling Z&Y in Chinatown San Francisco. Gotta try this, feel really cleansing after dining here! The restaurant interior decor is NOT the usual tacky Chinese, this one is tastefully done however simple though not fancy at all. The outside restaurant front is part of a plaza difficult to enter from freeway 60 exit though parking is plenty and very practical as it is right in front of the restaurant. One can not find this restaurant easily thus remain a hidden jewel. The food is quality, incredibly tasting (with Szechuan super healthy hot peppers) and the waitresses are friendly (yah a much...
