Maria's is such a delight! The last time I was here was roughly 10 years ago and I thought I had been romanticizing the past, but it was as good as I remember! The tamales was perfect, the masa was done to perfection! The flavor was balanced and authentic! The sope was delicious as well! And is still my favorite dish there! The Guacamole is worth the price! It's so delicious and priced below the competition! Granted I live in the Bay Area so the prices are well below what I'm accustomed to, but even compared to local menus the value is amazing! The restaurant is always clean and welcoming with nice music and a great ambiance. I've always loved the service, but Maria remembers me from high school and always greats me with a hug, however I cannot imagine someone having a bad experience unless they created it themselves, when two people came in that appeared to have a life more difficult than my own came in to use the facilities Maria not only treated them with dignity and respect, but also offered them food and a table. My love for this restaurant and the wonderful owner was definitely reinforced today after a long decade of not being in auburn...
Read moreMy friend recommended we have lunch here since we both LOVE Mexican food — and we’re so glad we did! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Maria. She is such a beautiful person, inside and out — so helpful and caring toward her customers. Our meal was absolutely delicious and clearly made with LOVE. Everything tasted fresh, and the portion sizes were generous and satisfying. The staff was super friendly and courteous, and the overall vibe of the place was fantastic. We especially enjoyed the outdoor patio — plenty of shade and misters kept it cool and comfortable for dining. I highly recommend stopping by if you haven’t tried this spot yet. It’s conveniently located right off Highway 80 at the Forest Hill exit. Be sure to say hi to Maria when you visit! We’ll definitely be back — we had such a...
Read moreWe ordered the chile relleno combo, two chicken tamales, a chicken, beef and chile verde taco. The chile relleno was greasy af with a thick egg white coating laid on lettuce, the beans that accompanied this meal were not authentic and possibly from a can. The tamales tasted rancid. We asked how long ago they had cooked them and they said the day before.. ummm no they tastes like they been in the fridge for a few days. The chicken taco was covered in black pepper . While most of the meal was atrocious their beef and chile verde tacos were surprisingly good. Ithr chile verde was spicy which I liked. The vhip and salsa were good as well. I think they cater to a more American clientele. But as far as authentic Mexican food I would say it depends on their meal. For...
