I recently had the most bizarre and disappointing experience at Original Pete's Pizza in Town Center, which stands in stark contrast to the positive experiences I've had there no only there but other Pete’s Pizzas the past. Our son was home visiting from college, and we decided to enjoy a dinner out at Pete’s, a place we've always liked. We were greeted and seated right away since the restaurant wasn't busy. We ordered a round of beers, appetizers, and a combo pizza. Since I'm not a fan of artichoke hearts, I specifically asked for them to be removed. Up to this point, the service, beers, and appetizers were fine.
However, when our pizza arrived, it had artichoke hearts on it. I flagged down our waitress, Misha, and informed her that I had requested the pizza without artichoke hearts. We were hungry, so I told her I would just pick them off, not wanting to wait for a new pizza. She assured me that she had submitted the order correctly. A few minutes later, she returned with a combo pizza without artichoke hearts, explaining that the runner had brought out the wrong pizza and it must have been mixed up with another order. She generously offered to box up the first pizza for us to take home, which I found thoughtful since we did not ask to take it. But it made sense knowing it couldn’t be served to someone else. A short time later, I noticed what appeared to be the same pizza being brought out and served to a table nearby. I didn’t think much of it at the moment, but it added to the oddness of the evening.
After we finished dinner and paid our bill, I asked Misha if we could take the pizza she had boxed up for us. She hesitated and said her manager had taken it, giving us a shy smile and a shrug. On the drive home, my son suggested that perhaps they had served our pizza to that other table. Initially, I thought "no way,”. When we got home, my wife decided to call the restaurant to share our overall experience. She spoke with the shift manager, who identified himself as Suk. He claimed that he had seen the pizza in the back, asked the staff whose it was, and when no one claimed it, he threw it away. These stories from Misha and Suk didn’t add up. While I can’t definitively say that the pizza served to another table was the one we initially received, the entire situation seemed off. We asked to have the general manager, Sherry, call us back. Despite contacting the restaurant on 8/10, 8/13, and finally on 8/26, we never received a call back.
I've been a loyal patron of Pete’s Pizza since 1988, back when their first location was open on La Riviera and Folsom Blvd, and they hand-tossed their pies. I was excited to see this location reopen after closing during COVID. However, after this experience, and upon seeing recent Yelp and Google reviews about patrons getting food poisoning at this location, I'm deeply disappointed. It’s troubling to see how little the management seems to care about addressing customer concerns. While I can't be certain our pizza was served to another table, the entire experience—from Misha, to Suk, to the second shift manager, and no return call is unsettling. Had I read the reviews beforehand, I would have taken my...
Read moreThought we’d try Pete’s as we were looking to try something new in EDH. What a mistake. Should have checked reviews (sorted by most recent) before coming in here. Like many other comments, the service started off good but quickly went downhill to horrible.
Order was taken promptly and our drinks were served fairly quickly, then we waited, and waited. We saw our food come up off the line where it sat for at least 10 minutes before being brought to our table.
To be fair, the quality of the food was pretty good, but not good enough to make up for the horrific service. Our second order of drinks was forgotten so we had to remind the server. They had plenty of staff, but it was as if they were afraid to engage with their customers. Very strange approach for a restaurant.
After having our server walk by and ignore us for at least seven times, I finally walked behind the food line and found a to-go container myself. We then waited longer (now more than 30 minutes) until i had to go to another section of the restaurant to get a different server to settle our bill.
Needless to say, I left no tip and we will...
Read moreCame here with my family and they were out of food. We ordered, 15 minutes later they told us they were out of food and to order something else. Which I did. We waited almost an hour and we finally got our food. So 20 minutes of wait and an hour for food. Also, the restaurant was empty and it was Saturday afternoon. We ended up getting the check because they wouldn't bring it to us after asking several times and getting up. We had to get our own boxes as well, this place is pretty much you have to serve yourself. Food wasn't that great and it's overpriced. They also took away the salads and garlic bread that they would give you with your meal. So you have to pay extra just to get what used to come with your plate, and they raised the price of the meal. This place sucks and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Never going back. They should just close the restaurant since they don't have food or service, hopefully something else that is actually good can take...
