Oh, man. I have left a review for this place previously and had nothing but nice things to say, but unfortunately today that changes. I have been here more times than I can count and typically get the barbecue burger. I decided to change it up today and asked for a patty melt. Traditionally a patty melt does not come with cold veggies on it, so I didn't even think to ask for them to take the veggies off. The cashier asked if I wanted the onions grilled or raw, so maybe that should have tipped me off, but it didn't. Patty melts traditionally come with grilled onions, so that's what I asked for.
When I received the burger, there were tomatoes and lettuce on it, which I was very disappointed to see. Instead of asking them to remake the whole thing, I took the cold veggies off and asked if it would be okay to get some more of the special sauce since it all came off with the lettuce. I was not rude or demanding about it, but explained that I didn't realize that theirs was not a traditional patty melt. At first the kid who asked if I needed help said that he was going to charge me for the sauce. I asked if there was any way if I could get just enough to smear on the bread because I did not have the $0.49 in change and didn't want them to have to run my card for such a small amount because we all know the credit card fees are never worth it. He said he would ask if that was okay. I don't know if the owner realizes this, but I can hear everything that's going on in their kitchen. He explained to her that I had asked for some more sauce and at first I couldn't hear what she was saying, but it was in a tone that was not kind and then I heard her say loudly "well, if she would read the menu she would know what comes on it and that's not my fault". Then there were more words exchanged between her and the kid that I couldn't quite understand, but I could tell she was very annoyed. If you scroll down through all of the one and two-star reviews, you will see how rude she is in her replies. No apologizing, just insults and a bunch of "no way", "not true" and "how rude" replies. She also yells all throughout the restaurant every time I'm there and has a working desk set up on one of the booths that's always there, which is not great for the ambiance.
Listen, I have owned a small business and I get that it can be irritating when people don't pay attention or don't notice parts of the menu, but is it really worth your regularly returning customers hearing you griping about them over a ramekin of special sauce? No. It's not. I will not be returning because I prefer giving my money to people who are a little bit more kind and understanding and who don't talk badly about their customers loud enough where the entire restaurant can hear them. I had learned to ignore how she acts throughout the restaurant when I've been here previously, but now that I have had this experience, I realize this is just who she is as a person. Before you come to this establishment know that if there is anything wrong with your food or your experience, she will not care and will likely...
Read moreWe spent $65 for 3 papa burgers, 3 large fries, 2 med milkshakes and 1 cherry Pepsi. I'm heart sick to say this but what an utter disappointment. PAPA BURGER: 2 unseasoned, fried patties with no sauce on the top bun, the bottom bun had a small amount of lettuce on a thin layer of burger sauce. The tomato was paper thin and I did find one thin dill pickle. The papa burger is supposed to be a meal in itself! Thick, juicy and rich; the paper burger holder used to always be drenched with sauce and burger juice! This time it was dry as a bone. The papa burger had ALWAYS been loaded with onions, tomatoes, pickles and lettuce unless you asked for them to be left off. The juiciest, seasoned, yummy burger patties and the sauce was amazing! The paper burger holder barely held together with all of the juice when you were done. FRIES: the amount was o.k. The quality? More than half of each order were 1" and under. Very few were over 3". The seasoning was ok, but had a different flavor to it. MILK SHAKES: medium Banana shake just didn't have enough Banana in it. Medim chocolate/ peanut butter milkshake was the same quality. CHERRY PEPSI: cherry Pepsi at top burger is usually Grenadine syrup/pepsi. This was just barely cherry pepsi as though it was from a fountain. EXTRA CHARGES: fresh fruit and real peanut butter both .75 each. Whipped cream .25 per milkshake. Cheese on the burgers 1.00 each. Not sure about bacon as none of us added it. Since the 70's Top Burger has been "that" secret little place where we took our out of town guests. The place we walked to from the high school (knowing we'd probably be late for class afterward) and share a large order of fries between friends. I have no clue what you people have done, why McDonalds is now a better option than our beloved old school Top Burger or why any one would rate you higher than 1 star. You're prices are no where equal to the quality you put out. Don't even THINK about blaming it on the high school students that work there. High school students have been the back bone of Top Burger for years. Generations of high schoolers were dying to get the chance to work there. The very least you can do is to bring back the quality of the food you are making, just try for godsake! Your TOP BURGER! You were the best! You were respected! "Were"... how...
Read moreThis place was highly recommended for a burger joint but I’m not very impressed by the establishment and experience. A few things that turned me off, the burgers range between 8ish to 10ish dollars with no combo option, everything is alacart, French fries are way too salty, everything is put in bags togo even if you’re dining in, no soda refills, no water cups unless you buy them for 25cents, no samples of ice cream - they have a ton of flavors that I’d never heard of but was told no sample of anything, employees biting their hands/nails and not washing hands after hands in mouth, and best of all butt cheeks exposed due to shorts being pulled up way too far and shorts way too tight. Positive notes: food was hot, special sauce was good but a little expensive for a tablespoon, meat thoroughly cooked, thick shakes and nuggets that looked like McDonald’s. As a whole, I would not recommend this establishment due to lack of food options and most of all the employee that was putting hands in her mouth and still working without washing hands.
I failed to mention there is no bathroom to use or anywhere to wash your hands after eating food there by yourself or with the toddler, which is absolutely insane.
And oddly, myself and others with me, we all suffered from diarrhea the following day? I’d Ike to think it was an odd coincidence but I’m not very hopeful. We all live in different houses and Top Burger was the only place we ate together.
Edit: after reading comments from other patrons, there seems to be a consensus that this establishment is overpriced for nothing special. The owner is extremely defensive with responses and can’t even spell. I have a feeling this is a Grandma that never graduated high school started a mom and pop burger place and it’s been fairly successful with a majority of high schoolers as employees, that have no knowledge of Customer Service and how to keep themselves clean while working and the owner again doesn’t seem to care. The owner should be ashamed of herself, and she should put more effort into actually caring for...
