Areca Asian Bar — Restaurant in Cambridge

I’ve been to this restaurant several times and have always tipped and treated the staff with respect. But during my most recent visit, I was approached and loudly confronted by a server who wasn’t even the one who served my table. He accused me of not tipping, yelling so loudly that the entire restaurant could hear. It was humiliating, unprofessional, and completely uncalled for.

To make matters worse, he went on to say that he would refuse to serve me if I ever came back. I’ve never had an experience like this before, especially in a place I’ve supported multiple times. Even if there had been a genuine misunderstanding, it should have been handled privately and respectfully—not with a public scene from someone who wasn’t even involved with my service.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable and has completely changed how I view this establishment. I won’t be returning unless management takes serious steps to address how customers...

I guess coming here on Valentine's Day was a mistake. They lost our reservation and sat us at the bar. Took no exaggeration 35 minutes to get my $16 martini, which was so small I drank it in 3 regular sized sips. Scallion pancake was cold and dry. We were annoyed at this point and ended up getting our food to go after 1 hour and it just arrived. Please staff your restaurant properly. Teach your bartender to make multiple of the same drink at once.. In the 35 minutes of waiting for my drink I watched him make the same couple drinks 5 times, individually....my drink took 30 seconds but actually 35 minutes....

I tried cold soba and what I got was a steaming noodle and a hot broth. When I talked to the waiter, the response I got was "even if you order a cold soba, we still need to cook the broth and the noodle that's why it's hot." This place doesn't even have a slight knowledge of how the cold soba needs to be prepared. Also you need to provide shaved radish, scallions and wasabi with the broth, not just the wasabi. I also ordered tonkatsu and a roll which was just average. Not coming back...
