The place has a nice vibe to it. American sports bar vibe with Indian and American fare. The food is really tasty and good quantity. Some items are on the pricier side. The thing I absolutely didn't like is their restroom - it is dire need of some attention. In the women's restroom, one stall is non functional of the two. The one that is functional is really tiny and has tissue dispensers on both side walls, so there is literally no way to avoid touching either of them or the toilet itself to open the door while inside. Also none of the two toilet dispensers hold toilet paper - the TP is actually a huge roll situated on top of the flush tank. It is physically impossible to reach for the TP while seated in the toilet.
The main toilet entrance is also similar, there is only space for one person, with a hand dryer and paper towel dispenser - again the the paper towel roll rests on top of the hand dryer and not in the paper roll dispenser.
I would love to eat the food at Tanjore again but with the current restroom situation and cold weather fast approaching I don't...
Read moreI never leave reviews because nothing is that bad enough or vice versa. Tanjore proved me wrong. I ordered a hearty meal for visitors who had come out of town. I had boasted repeatedly about this place and its amazing food. To my dismay, when I ordered the food, I found human hair littered all throughout the food. One strand would be a mistake; more than two is negligence. My guests were disappointed and disgusted.
I shared my experience with the owner, and he promised to refund me for my whole meal. After chasing the refund for two months and being subjected to rude servers, he insists that he will only refund me for one dish, as if the hair was limited to that dish alone.
He goes on to call me desperate for demanding the full refund for the meal. The arrogance and disrespect shown are unbelievable.
I would not order from here again, and I don't advise you to either. Yours might not be strands of hair; it just might be a finger nail or a booger.

Read moreFirst off, we walked in because they were selling 2$ PBR. How do you turn down a 2$ beer, even if PBR?
Second, there are a couple of confusing points to get out of the way. The old standby People's Republic bar is gone, a victim of COVID and THIS Tanjore has moved in taking its place. Tanjore itself was an old Harvard Square standby, but that location is no more, also a victim of COVID, but THIS Tanjore is now reincarnated as of the Summer 2022 in this new, if classic, location.
So to the food. We had tasty Indian binari and Nepali mo mo dumplings, both good, and as already mentioned we had the throwback 2$ PBR - admittedly a promotion, but shaving two decades off the price of a beer, that's amazing - and in Cambridge, who knew it was possible. They also had a good selection of 6$ drafts. Also amazing.
So go. Give it a try. It's worth it, and while there, offer a toast in mourning to the old People's Republic, may its...
