This was a great establishment to bring my family after a day at the Adventure Aquarium, and general sightseeing. There is food to please everyone! The food was so fresh and tasty, with generous filling portions, and great prices too. The food has a special home cooked feeling, you can taste the love and intention. Our visit was the most meaningful and intimate food experience we've had in awhile.
Note: Millie's Kitchen is part of the 6th street lounge. It maybe a bit confusing because there is no sign, but it is there. When you walk into the establishment, you will want to walk inside to the back where you can find the half door counter where you can order your goods. You can also ask the people up front, and they'll be happy to point you along!
We got two platters for three people: the sweet chili wings and jerk chicken over rice. Each platter comes with two sides, and we chose the collared greens, mac and cheese, candied yams, and old bay fries. It was so much we even took some food home! My parents love bold flavors and are hard to please, and they thought the jerk chicken was the best they ever had! It worked out well, because I got the wings all to myself. My mom loved the collared greens, my dad loved all of the sides, and I really liked their mac and cheese and fries. For two different types of chicken orders, they were both cooked super well, with the jerk chicken being juicy and soft, and the wings being soft and crispy. I can't wait to go back and try all of their menu items!!
To top it all off, the customer service and homely feeling of the place made us feel instantly happy, a truly rare find these days. Millie is so sweet and generous, checking up on us if we needed anything else. I can not mention enough, their prices are so reasonable and worth it for the quality especially. For example, they only charge a dollar for bottled water, which is super reasonable considering what other establishments charge.
These days a lot of my food trips feel very transactional, but this is one of the first times in a long time that it not only filled my stomach, but my soul and spirit, a gratitude and feeling that stays with you for life. This is a must go place for all, I would rate it...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe fish was fried extremely hard OR it was old and they refried it but thereās no way fresh fried fish should be chewy like jerky. The rice was crunchy and inedible because it wasnāt cooked long enough. The sweet potatoes are like super sweet mush. Either I tried them for the first time when the lazy chef was on duty OR the rating of 4.7 is a straight lie. First impression was a bad impression. The 2 stars was for the Mac n cheese which was pretty good and the...
