Took my mother for dinner last night. Our waitress the entire night was in a "rush" but only 4 other tables were seated and another waitress was caring for them...so we are not sure why the sense of urgency to rush was there. We ordered filets...and my mom purposely told her she would like hers well done, and it would be "ok" to butterfly the filet to insure it was done as the sight of rare meat makes her queasy and she would like to eat with me...I ordered mine medium well. Salads arrived with no dinner rolls (we never did get them, she was in such a rush), our steaks arrived..my moms in a pool of bloody juice...we waived down the waitress and sent hers back...but she never allowed me a chance to speak as to send my bloody steak back...so the other waitress went and got her...my moms steak came back out..still red on the edge! not even center cut....my mom sent it back again to be cooked and kept her baked potato because we were starving....my steak came back out still red...I sent mine back and kept my potato too...and told her I would like clean plates for steak...the bloody pool was a turn off...finally my moms steak came back out on a saucer....still red center cut...and waitress pretty much told my mom that the cook said he cannot cook it anymore. My mom was so disappointed and taken back that they refused to cook anymore she asked for it in a box.. when mine came out it was also on a saucer...and was not done anymore than the 2nd time I had sent back...we put it in the box....Yes we should of just got up and paid for potato and a salad after the second time....waitress put bill on table and I told her to tell manager of this ordeal...she disappeared a while...manager never came and we paid our bill...said we would not be back and she said "that's ok, take care" and walked away. Very bad experience for us....and here is the thing...I have eaten dinners there and taken guests for luncheons, for about 3 years....we have enjoyed the ny strips, beer battered fish, reubens, French onion...yummy desserts...and have never had a problem....last night we were treated very poorly...we still left the waitress a 20% tip...because at least we are DECENT people. I am so disappointed in this experience and especially the fact that the manager never made an effort to talk to us (if the waitress...
Read moreWhen placing our order, my husband ordered the Fisherman's Platter. The waitress asked "fried" or (I thought) she said "grilled" so we thought that was an option. She actually said "broiled" ... again, we thought that was an option so he said broiled. When our food came, it had crab legs on top, which the Fisherman's Platter didn't have listed. BEFORE eating it, my husband told the waitress... I think they brought me the wrong dinner, this one has crab legs and the one I ordered didn't come with crab legs, I think they gave me the seafood platter instead of the Fisherman's Platter. She said, we have a new food runner so she may have grabbed the wrong one, I'll check, but it does come with crab legs. So he said ok, I'll eat it then (thinking he looked at the menu wrong). We got our bill and needless to say he was charged for the Broiled Seafood Platter. When we mentioned it to the server, she simply said... well when u order it broiled, it's the Seafood platter and not the Fisherman's Platter. We explained to her that we thought that was an "option", since she's the one that asked if he wanted it broiled or fried. I also told her we are from out of state so how would we know. Needless to say, we will NEVER eat there again AND I will be telling my family, which is not only huge, but several live in Canal Fulton. She could have tried to make it "right", instead she simply said... no (poor, poor customer service) It would have been nice had she told us (as any good waitress/server would) there was a "price difference" when he ordered it "broiled". We're not talking a minor price difference either, but nearly DOUBLE the price. If that's not bad enough, The listed menu price was $28.99 for the Broiled Seafood Platter(which we never ordered to begin with), when we got our bill, it was $30.28. The listed menu price from my dinner was $13.99, but was charged $15.28. And hey... why not throw in a CO fee while you're at it, it's only money. Pretty disappointed with the whole experience, even more disappointed in myself for not making them make it right....
Read moreI have never been one of those people who likes to say anything bad and only point out the positive unless showing the negative is necessary, and in regards to my experience at Canal Grille it is necessary. Positives, I had been to the Canal Grille once before and enjoyed the food, the service, and the atmosphere. This time was different. The food was still really good. I personally didn't have any issues with my food but some of the people I was with were not satisfied with theirs. One of my friends ordered fish and it was so greasy she couldn't eat it and had to send it back. The service was so-so. They were on it as far as making sure our drinks were filled but past that it was o...k... The pause in my okay is due to the fact that a couple of orders were mixed up, when one of my friends asked for a side of sause it took ten minutes to get it (and they weren't crowded), then it took, in my opinion, too long to get our checks. And the check is where I have my cheif complaint because they tried to have me pay the gratuity twice. The tip is included in the bill and I paid a part of my bill by one means then made up the difference with my card. Well when I got my recite back I saw that they had over charged me and they said that was the gratuity. So when they used my card to pay the rest of the bill they pretty much treated it like a separate bill and tried to have me pay extra gratuity. To their credit they did reimburse the extra amount but not without laying a guilt trip on me and making it seem as if I was taking tips away. I paid the tip, trust me, I saw it on my bill which I paid. I would go back for the food but I Will never pay with a...
