I had high hopes for this place, but was disappointed. Food was average at best. I got the California burrito and was not impressed - it was dry and didn't have much flavor. My kids meals were just okay too, nothing to rave about (quesadilla and hamburger). The chips and guacamole were decent. Service was mediocre - we waited for a few minutes when we walked in which was surprising because the place was empty. When we were finally seated, our waitress gave us water but never refilled it, and misunderstood my requests twice: When the food came, I asked for two sides of sour cream and she brought me one; I asked for a side of guacamole to go with the free chips and she brought me the whole appetizer and charged me for it too. The place felt like it was trying too hard with the upscale presentation and vibe, and you can tell it was done cheaply. I agree with an earlier review that there are at least two other far better and more authentic Mexican restaurants in Canby - Los Dos Agaves or Nuevo Vallarta are better worth your visit. Sorry for the negative review, but I just don't understand all the 5 star reviews...
Read moreWell, the service and armosphere were lovely. The food... not so much. I really wanted to like this place. Our plates were beautifully presented and the portion sizes were excellent, but the food left much to be desired. We did enjoy the horchata and the jamaica, which were both lovely and refreshing. My husband ordered the steak chimichanga and I ordered the quesabirria plate. Unfortunately, both of us were searching for flavor throughout each dish. There was no kick, no heat, no real distinction from one item to the next. The chimichanga was closer to a burrito in that it was not served crispy😭, and the steak was plain, and a bit chewy. Disappointed in the consomme for the birria as well. Although the meat was tender and there was plenty of cheese, there was no crisp to the corn tortillas and, again, it just lacked flavor. Perhaps we both ordered the wrong things, but for us, execution is part of the experience, but flavor is everything. I give it a 5/10...
Read moreJust tried this place last night for the first time and I will start with the positives- The Place looked nice inside and the kitchen looked clean. I had the enchiladas poblana which was very tasty, and my wife had the flautas which were very good also. For the not so great things- jazz music playing the whole time which is not my jam, the chips and salsa’s weren’t great, just ok in our opinion. No beers on draft. Prices are a little spendy for Mexican food. And the waitress didn’t speak great English she had to get help from someone when I asked her about their beers. But overall the food was worth us coming back for...
