We are loyal Costco members, but given that it is 20 minutes away, we were looking for a closer warehouse. We did try Sam's, but it wasn't for us. Not enough organic selection, clueless employees, and had a dreary Walmart-like feel. We decided to try BJs and we are so glad we did.
Here are highlights from our experience:
-Prices are significantly lower than the grocery store on most items. -Has a nice organic selection, although overall Costco has more organic produce and organic/paleo ready-made meals. -Gas is a good 20 cents cheaper than other area gas stations. The free curbside pickup option may be the greatest perk! We use it at least once a week. Employees are happy and helpful. The app is better than Costco's because it shows what is currently in-stock at the store. One downside is that coupons must be clipped (either electronically or with scissors) instead of applied automatically like Costco. -Significantly less crowded than Costco.
We now shop at BJs more frequently than we shop at Costco, though we still have our Costco membership for when we can get out there.
Update Sept 2024: Overall, BJs has continued to exceed our expectations. They put on new tires for our car and we had a very good experience. Price was slightly higher than Costco Tire, but worth bypassing the long wait at Costco. In general, the prices of the grocery items continue to be competitive, but we have had to be careful about the toys. Some of the toys were actually cheaper on amazon! For this reason, I am docking one star. There was also one instance where the price of a vitamin we wanted was significantly...
Read moreI recently bought a midea ac unit from them to be delivered. The model was defective is overheating after 5 minutes and leaking water. I thought it’s okay I’ll call them and I’m sure everything will be good because it’s within the 90 day window to exchange it for a new one. I called and everything was good after talking to the manager he never mentioned one very key policy. It needed the box or they won’t take it back. I asked him what I needed to bring and that it is okay because I’ve been trying to get it to work for 30 days. I bring it to the canton location and the customer service women immediately was extremely rude and talking down to me (I’m 23 she was in her 50s). She said you can’t bring that in here we won’t return it or anything without it being in a box. I explained that I talked to a manager two days ago and he assured me they would be able to exchange it and if needed I can take the new one out of the box and put the old one in it so they can keep it in a box. She said that’s not how it works and I asked for a manager. This was I’m almost 100% sure the same manager I talked to two days ago. He said they won’t return it I need to talk to customer care or midea for their warranty. This is mind you after I just worked a 12 hour shift on my feet without having time to eat and driving home to get the unit before they closed at 8pm. I am extremely disappointed and will not be ever ordering from them again. Customer service was awful and absolutely no help while I was loading this into my car after by myself. From the start I was being nice and smiling until the customer service women was rude and...

This review has been sitting in my drafts for a while, but I’m finally posting it now. BJ’s Wholesale offers a fantastic selection of products, from groceries to household items, all at competitive prices—especially for bulk purchases.
The aisles were well-organized and clean, making it easy to find what I needed. Most importantly, the store was much less crowded than Costco and Sam’s Club, which made for a pleasant shopping experience, particularly on weekdays.
Beyond the cash registers, there’s a snack bar and an optical store, perfect for quick errands. The checkout process is smooth with self-service stations, which add convenience and speed.
The membership is great value, offering discounts, rewards, and fresh, high-quality deli and bakery options. Though the membership auto-renews, you can easily disable that feature. We got a great deal on our membership, which made the experience even better.
Spacious parking and lower gas prices are a bonus, and they even accept manufacturer coupons, which neither Costco nor Sam’s Club does. Their snack shop offers $1 food items, making it even...
