My family and I ate here on a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly it wasn't super busy. My husband and I ordered the calamari which was interesting as I've never had calamari tossed in buere blanc. It was decent and surprisingly still crispy but if the sauce wasn't on there the calamari would have no taste. I ordered the chicken and waffle with side of Asparagus and white cheddar Grits. The Grits were bomb!! The chicken was fried nicely but flavorless and all the crispy batter falls off as you cut it. The waffle was the thinnest waffle I've had but it had a good flavor. Asparagus had a nice crisp which is how I like it. My husband had the peaches and cream French toast which was eh ok. It's weird they put chocolate sauce on it , and a lot of it. I would recommend they try a white chocolate drizzle /sauce because regular milk chocolate and peaches don't really mix. He also got thr Mac and cheese which was seasoned well. For our son we got the mama's French toast which was pretty good. I would return to French Toast especially for those Grits but also to try other menu items. Our waitress was nice but it took a very long time to get food which was confusing given it wasn't busy Lastly we tried the "peach cobbler" which was NOT a peach cobbler at all!! It was more like a baked Oatmeal with some peaches on top that had no traditional peach cobbler seasoning (sugar, Nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla extract). This was the biggest disappointment for peach cobbler ever and the staff should NOT call this peach cobbler because it definitely was not that and also the Oatmeal wasn't even that soft. We tasted a spoonful of this as threw it away. I would give that a...
Read moreTotally agree with others, this place is spectacular, and definitely sit at the bar, Alyson and her team are AMAZING! Alyson runs the bar with grace, expertise and not only leading the service and wait staff wonderfully, but with respect & clarity! Alyson's team leadership skills are impeccable, and can't just be training since this place just opened a few days ago and she's a new hire! Oh, and I must say, even in the most busiest times, Alyson makes the customer feel like they've never been forgotten! Even doing the extras herself if other staff is unavailable or unable! Most of the 5 stars is for her!
The food is delicious, the drink selection is large & delicious, the other staff is great, the atmosphere is inviting & clean, and I'm definitely coming back in the future! It's well worth the wait if you have one! But come alone or with one other person, and possibly get lucky enough to be seated quickly at the bar!
I had the Baked French Toast, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, White Cheddar Grits and Turkey Sausage Patties. The Baked French Toast was really, really good! The roasted sweet potatoes were a little chunky in the middle of most pieces, but still really good... especially with their sweet BBQ sauce to dip it in. The white cheddar grits are thick and flavorful, just the way I Love them!!! And the turkey sausage patties were cooked perfectly and delicious. The Turkey Sausage Patties and Beef Bacon are not on the menu, so ask for them, if you want an alternative to their pork meats!
To drink, I had the Expresso Martini and the French Mule! Both were delicious! They have tons of other things to drink, like martinis, mimosas, cocktails,...
Read moreIf I could give less than one star, I would! I went to what was supposed to be brunch at French Toast on Friday. This was my very first time here. We had a party of two. Now, I did not know they specialized in cajun and spicy dishes. Neither one of us likes spicy food. We ordered the "Chef's special" which was the Perch basket. As you can see from my photo, the fries were old and greasy, the cole slaw was old and stale, and the fish had absolutely NO seasoning--in either dish!
Savannah returned and saw that we both were dissatisfied. So, she, who was quite snappy and rude, asked us what else we wanted. So, we both ordered the chicken and waffle. The waffle was tasty, however; the chicken and bacon braised greens were too spicy! My friend's kept hers, but I couldn't eat mine.
Not too happy with having to order a third entree, I asked a male waiter to get the manager for me. To my surprise, a young female about 18 or 19 years of age comes to our table. I explained ALL that happened . She never apologized, nor offered any kind of discount. She quickly asked what else I wanted. She did not care that we had to reorder TWO and THREE times before we were able to actually eat! I will NEVER return here! That was my FIRST and LAST time!
To add insult to injury, Savannah did not refill my friend's coffee, nor did she come check on us as a waitress should!
Customer service has really gone down these days! The manager and waitress need alot...
