My wife, who is Indian and Vegetarian, have been going to NeeHee's since the original store opened in Farmington on Grand River. No doubt the food is very good and so many unique options for the area. When her family is in town, we always order several items for take out to enjoy over the several days. I am sure I have spent thousands over 15-20 years.
However, over the past several years the ordering and pickup process has become unbearable. I believe most of this stems from the owners not being at the store and their inability to handle the volume, specifically on Saturday's (since Sunday they are Closed). Also, the pickup flow is chaos because they have decided to centralized all order pickups (in store, online, DoorDash, etc.) all to one small counter area. On Saturday, there is a mob of people ordering food, picking up food, asking questions, asking for other items, dealing with problem orders, etc. Also, you cannot order on the phone even if the website is down. The phone rings endlessly and no one will pick up.
Again, this weekend, my online order was delayed significantly and frankly it was missed entirely; although the staff and management would not own up to that. I ordered 2 simple items online, and the pickup time was 20 minutes from the order time. Because I felt this was aggressive, I waited an extra 5-10 minutes to avoid standing there. Over the course of 20 additional minutes standing in the herd, 2 staff and 1 manager all asked me for my order #. I was dismissed several times and told "2 minutes". I saw my order on the screen while several in-store orders were delivered to patrons. It was clear many orders were backed up and several folks had only partial orders provided and problems. Clearly, they could not handle the Saturday rush with current staff and process. My order took 50 minutes in total - supposed to be 20 minutes.
Finally got my order - pushed at me - no apology. No acknowledgement a mistake was made. No attempt to make things right by providing a dessert or a drink. No gift card. Nothing. Rude. Unprofessional. Typical of what we are all faced as patrons of food service these days.
Not planning to do back. Certainly avoiding Saturday or...
Read moreAlright one Saturday morning I thought I would give this place a shot. I arrive abs it's pretty crowded. Which I took as a great sign. So not knowing what to order. I ordered a little bit of many items. My order was up pretty quick and brought the food back to my table... I am ready to have some food at this point, and it looks great. At last I start to dig in.... the first thing I try was aweful... I like many foods and foods from may cultures... so I.am thinking maybe this one is just not for me. So I move on to the next entree. Once again it's horrible.. which is the same scene that plays over and over as I move through the various dishes...at this point I am truly disappointed. I have been to my favorite Indian food restaurant many times. It's just a yummy explosion of unique spices in my mouth and enjoyed everytime I go to visit that establishment. Could Indian street food vary that much? Regardless I am totally bummed out and very disappointed at this point, as not only did the food taste awful, I am also out a wad of cash! After leaving I could not reach the closest fast food restaurant fast enough to eat something to get the awful taste out of my mouth.... In order to be fair. I cant say all the menu items tasted bad to me. As I didnt order each and everyone one. I did order quite a few though. So a thought for management. It would be extremely helpful, if you provided an ordering guide for your American neighbors... I would try this place again, if...
Read moreThe prices are high, we are in the US where the wages are not so good and Neehee's prices are too high. I was born and raised in Dubai, UAE and I use to have these street foods there very often and the value use to be the same infact little cheaper but that was in AED Dirhams (UAE CURRENCY) which is $1 = AED 3.67 so for an example Pani Puri use to be for AED 6 which is not even $2 and Neehee's has it for $7.99 so thats 4 times higher than what I use to pay in Dubai and same goes for the other foods, we are paying 4 times higher than what I use to pay back home.
They should not sell things so expensive as its unfair for the people to pay so much for a vegetarian food place. I bought only 3 stuffs and 2 mango lassi and it cost me $40. That's not right and the prices are not fair.
They ask for tips too even if a person doesn't want to but I guess they didnt put any other option so even if its a to go, we still have to hit on tips so I dont know, these people are just looting.
People do come and bring their family and friends because they miss these street foods BUT Neehee's should not take advantage of this and should reduce their prices.
I would definitely want my American friends to try these food but Neehee's are very expensive and they are just appetizers or like snacks and asking so much....Very disappointed with...
