I had been wanting to try this place for awhile and we finally did. I didn’t realize it was online ordering only, but currently it is. We ordered chicken breast sandwich, shawarma sandwich, shawarma bowl, and basmati rice. The bowl was supposed to be super spicy and the sandwiches were supposed to be little/mild spice. Well, they mixed that up and the bowl was mild and the sandwiches were super spicy. Which was not enjoyable for the two that did not want spice and who wanted spice. The sandwiches were very “wet” and completely fell apart. I couldn’t even finish the last parts of them because they were soggy messes. We ordered 10 pita breads as well, and they came as a pack of Yasmeen Bakery Pita, which was disappointing. I thought they were going to be house made. The rice is yellow and stains EVERYTHING. My rug, my shirt, my counter, you name it, it stained it. The only redeeming thing about this place is that everything tasted good. But on our hunt for a new middle eastern restaurant, this isn’t it.
Update: we went back! Well, the sandwiches are huge and I’m not sure why I didnt note that before. They are still “wet” and fell apart at the end. We got hummus and pita, which was very yummy, the rice is bland for sure, and I realized I prefer almond rice over basmati. We also got a fattoush salad and it was quite good. But honestly, it wasn’t my favorite. But it didn’t taste bad and they give you a LOT of food, it was both lunch and...
Read moreBecause my New Yorker husband loves Mediterranean food and things such as chicken over rice and beef Shawarmas, we decided to give this place a try. I also think that the prices are a bit steep compared to 95% of the other mediterranean style restaurants that we’ve been to.
For the first time in life, my husband threw his beef Shawarma in the trash, saying it tasted horrible. I was surprised, but after I took a pinch of his beef Shawarma, I understood what he was talking about as the beef tasted horrible and we are not exaggerating as we respect our community , love supporting small businesses, love dining out and enjoy good Mediterranean food. Just maybe the beef flavor was bad because we arrived close to closing time.
I feel bad leaving this review as this was our first visit, but because of how horrible the beef meat tasted, I figured that I just be honest and write this review. The other items were decent and tasted good in my opinion. It’s just the beef inside of the beef Shawarma was horrible as I couldn’t tell if it was just burnt or or old or spoiled or just a nasty taste).
Sorry guys (Levant staff) but I’ll hand it to you as the cleanliness, service and atmosphere were 5 stars.
The other foods that we bought tasted decent as we bought chicken 4 stars; shawarma wraps 1 star (due to being too soggy, kind of hard or overcooked); rice 4 stars and once again, the beef...
Read moreI spent $115.80 at Levant Kitchen and it was a waste of money. I had the worse grape leaves ever, the rice inside was dry and old. The fries lacked flavor. The Chicken Kabob bowl that I ordered was packed with onions and cucumbers and cilantro that that is all I could taste. The described that their pita bread was freshly baked and it was not, as a matter of fact it came in the plastic bag from whomever they bought it from. The chicken kabob skewers I bought were still raw on the inside ( I bought three of them so you can just imagine how upsetting that was ). I believe the rating that they have needs to be reevaluated, they may have been a great place in the past but they are definitely not deserving of their 4.8 rating, and it leaves consumers like myself mislead. I will never return to this restaurant, and I will definitely be leaving my comment on every restaurant review place that people frequent to warn them about this place, so that hopefully they dont waste $115.80 dollars on food that is not worth the price they...
