George's Lounge — Restaurant in Canton

Horrible place. I used to be very fond of Georges and would consider it my favorite bar in Canton until recently. This past Monday me and my girlfriend decided we wanted to go grab a bite to eat and it was nice out, so we decided we would head to Georges and get a burger. We walked up there, which was about a 30-40 minute walk , but it was nice out and we enjoyed ourselves. Upon getting there we sit at the bar and the bartender comes over and asks us what we would like. I order a Bells Two Hearted Ale (my first beer of the evening) and my girlfriend orders a Mello Yellow. When the bartender returns with our drinks she also gives us a couple of menus, but we were already prepared to order before she even brought the menus. So we order our food and the bartender rings it in and brings me the check. I have worked in many restaurants for a lot of years, so I thought it was weird to bring the check before we even get our food. I didn't think much of it until afterwards. After ordering our food I immediately get up and go use the restroom. I didn't time myself, but I would say that i was in the bathroom for about 7-8 minutes. Enough time to use the restroom and wash my hands. After leaving the bathroom I am walking back to the bar and I notice our food isn't there, so I ask my girlfriend if she would like to step outside with me and smoke a cigarette. She says yes and we go outside to smoke. This is where things get interesting. We are out front sitting and about halfway through our cigarettes the bartender comes out with a plastic bag that has two styrofoam containers and a plastic cup of beer. I don't think anything of this until she walks up to me and lets me know that my food is ready. I am under the impression that there is a misunderstanding, so I say to the bartender "I'm sorry, but we actually wanted to order this for here.". That is when she informs me that they are asking me to leave. I am extremely confused by this. It makes no sense to me because since we got there the only thing I had done at all was sit at the bar, order our drinks and food, use the restroom, and go out to smoke. I ask the bartender why I am being asked to leave when I haven't done anything or said anything to anybody. When I ask this she is just beside herself and I have no idea why. She asks me "Do you really want to know?". As if I should have some idea what I had done and so I tell her yes I really want to know. That is when she Tells me, "Nobody is comfortable with you being here.". Upon hearing this I am extremely upset. I have never been so disrespected, insulted, or embarrassed by someone that is supposed to be in the service industry. Being completely honest this really hurt my feelings and she said that to where everyone within earshot could hear it. I don't say anything to her. I just pay my bill and leave. Obviously I couldn't take the beer with me because you cannot walk down the street with an open container so that was $5 wasted. As I said earlier we walked there, so by the time we got home our food was well past cold, so that was another $30 wasted. I didn't even think of this until a couple days later when it popped in my head that she gave us our check right after we ordered when the bar was extremely slow that evening, so I feel as though she was trying to get rid of us from the beginning. The whole situation was just completely embarrassing and I honestly don't know if I will ever spend my money with them again. This is a review, so I will be completely honest and tell everyone that the food at Georges is very good. They have some of the best burgers in Stark County and a nice beer selection, but honestly with service like I received I don't think I want to enjoy them anymore. I'd like to start off by saying George Lounge is a must eat place if you are in Canton. The grass fed burgers are to die for and mini pretzels are the best I've ever had except for some that I got in Vegas. The craft beer selection is always changing and is excellent. You will find beers that you're sure too love. With that said my experiences while a certain Lady is working has been less than enjoyable the last few times I've been in and she was working. It all started when 1 night I was pretty trashed from bar hopping and made Georges my last stop. A guy sitting next to me complimented my tattoo and I explained that it was to honor my sister who had just took her life. I don't usually talk about money but our conversation ended up leading up to the fact that she had left me some money and I was thinking about getting a boat to live on and moving to Maimi, he was from there and told me not to do it and that alot of people do and end up regretting it. The next time I came in I heard her loudly say something along the lines of " great now I gotta listen to this guy talk about money again". Then just yesterday she thought I couldn't hear her and she was gossiping to another coworker about that night. Neither time did I say anything because I try to avoid confrontation and it's a free country, but if the bar staff is going to gossip about a patron at the bar they could at least have the decency to do it where they...

So I went to George’s Lounge tonight as I have many times before to eat and hear local music. But tonight was a little different cause I brought my whole family for the experience. We have two little ones who got full meals just like we did and we all got there wonderful milkshakes for dessert. However, my burger was basically raw. I very much enjoy their food so I planned on just letting the waitress know next time she came back around. So one by one, our drinks emptied and no waitress. When she did come to our table I prefaced my complaint about the very raw burger by explaining I LOVE their food. If you’ve been to George’s Lounge you understand paying for 4 meals and some shakes is well over $100 so I expected there to be better customer service when dealing with my food. The waitress said something along the lines of “yeah well that’s just how they come. Someone else complained about it earlier” so I explained when ordering the burger the choice was medium and well and we even chatted about medium meaning a pink center. I paid full price for my meal that I couldn’t eat and probably won’t be back due to the lack of attentiveness and handling the situation so poorly.
