We went for Father's Day lunch, our 1st time there. It was a light crowd and we were seated right away. I was slightly disappointed that there wasn't any complimentary bread, but no complaint, maybe a suggestion.
Our server was attendant and always refilling water, ect.
The food is good, not the best Italian I've ever had but far from bland as some on these reviews have said. It's a nice good meal. Portion sizes are good. More than enough for our party and I don't understand reviews that complained they didn't get enough food.
The Mussels Romano appetizer were served in a tomato-based sauce, which was new to me and very tasty. When we requested extra bread for this it was not a problem and we were not charged. We also had the Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio appetizer. Most in my party thought it was good, but I personally thought it bland.
We tried several things on the menu. No complaints. The Chicken piccata, the Chicken parm, and Chicken Caprese were all very good and well portioned.
The atmosphere is nice. The place is an old mill and it has a rustic feel to it. I would like to try it in the evening when the lighting is more interesting.
To conclude, positives: nice place, good food, great and pleasant server. Negative: Just 1, a bit pricey for lunch (but it was...
Read moreAtmosphere is great, service is good. Problem? The pasta dishes.
We ordered a few drinks, the fig and goat cheese flatbread, spaghetti with meatballs and chicken piccata.
The spaghetti with meatballs was very bland. The meatballs just taste like beef (nothing else) and the sauce was like Prego. For $24, we could’ve made it at home for 5 meals and honestly it would’ve been far more flavorful.
The chicken piccata… the chicken was pathetic and rubbery. The pasta was literally swimming in the lemon sauce which had so much black pepper and dried rosemary. Barely tasted any butter or garlic due to the amount of lemon, pepper and rosemary. Thankfully my sinuses needed a cleaning but not several times over.
The best dish was the fig and goat cheese flatbread, which again can be recreated at home fairly simply for half the cost or less. The only criticism is to get better quality dried figs, it was almost obvious that these came out of a sunmaid prune container.
We love the atmosphere, but the food has taken a nosedive. We also waited a long time to get our food in a fairly empty restaurant. The fact that it was that empty on a Friday night should’ve been an indication. And with an 80 on the health inspection, they need to change up...
Read moreFirst time visit to Canton mill shops, was pleasantly surprised at the selection of restaurants already thriving in the complex. We decided to try Magnolia villa on a recommendation from the bartender at Reformation brewery. Great ambiance, super service (our waitress Karen was fantastic with great humor and conversation). The appetizers were the Bruschetta and the beef tenderloin carppacio, both very tasty. We also chose salads, myself having the ceasar salad with my girl choosing the house classic with feta cheese. The greens in our salads were super fresh and crispy. The dressings were obviously made fresh and with pride. The entrees we chose were the chicken marsalla and the Gorgonzola crusted beef medallions. Again the layering of flavors, seasonings and the quality of the food was well beyond most establishments we have visited in the past. For dessert we had the Tiramisu and the cannolis. Great ending to a super enjoyable date night. The prices aren't cheap here, but for the quality of service and the high quality of ingredients and obvious pride of the kitchen staff in their prep/ preparation of the food off the line is something I haven't tasted in a long time. Give them a shot, I know we'll...
