The Jalapeno Tree: A Fiesta of Flavors and Family Pulling up to The Jalapeno Tree, I was immediately impressed by the large, two-story building with ample parking, including big truck spaces and a convenient handicap ramp. The bustling atmosphere hinted at the restaurant's popularity, and stepping inside, I was greeted by a vibrant, festive interior that set a cheerful tone. A friendly host welcomed me and guided me to my table. As a self-proclaimed "Gastrónomo Experto," I was eager to dive into the menu. However, my enthusiasm was dampened when I encountered the artificial butter flavoring called Parkay, notorious for containing unhealthy additives like sodium benzoate, phosphoric acid, and artificial flavoring. It's a surprising choice for a restaurant that prides itself on fresh and healthy ingredients. Despite this hiccup, the visual appeal of the food passing by reignited my excitement. I started with grilled chicken nachos, each chip meticulously topped with tender chicken, Monterey Jack cheese, fresh pico de gallo, and spicy jalapeños. The addition of guacamole and diced peppers elevated the dish, making each bite a burst of flavor. The deep-fried jalapeños were a delightful treat, perfectly salted and crisp, adding a satisfying crunch. Paired with a towering 22-ounce beer, my meal was both hearty and refreshing. The Jalapeno Tree truly lives up to its reputation for "Crazy Good Mexican Food." The emphasis on fresh, made-to-order dishes is evident in every bite. With over 25 years in business, they’ve mastered the art of creating unique, flavorful experiences that keep families coming back for more. While the initial encounter with Parkay was a letdown, the overall dining experience was a vibrant celebration of Mexican cuisine.

Great Mexican food. The meat was cooked all the way without the after taste or being watery which is the case in so many Mexican restaurants. I ordered Enchilada plate and it came with Tacos too and they were really good. Plenty of meat and tasted really good. Black beans on the side could have been skipped but rice tasted home made and delicious. I ordered white sauce which is somewhat rare to find in most places. We also ordered steak and it was really really good. Tasteful and delicious. They have full bar but I could not settle on a drink. Regular Margarita, Tijuana Tea or Old Fashioned... all were subpar and tasted watered down. My company was real happy with her regular margarita. Since the food was great I will visit this place again and stick to beer for my drinks.... probably cheaper too. Ambience was loud (colorful) and typical Mexican style but with more space and no dirt floor and no carpet.... standard fare. Music was not too loud, (a tremendous blessing to have and hear conversation) and the wait staff was courteous and spoke good English too. Thank you for that. In house fresh tortilla factory and that was a treat. Chips were served hot right as we came in and hot served chips are rare and taste so much better. If only they had warm salsa... that would have been a double treat. They had a robot (pictured) to serve as maitre d but did not see that in operation. Wow. Visit this place pronto and.... bon appetite.

We will be back! 💖 I skipped this place originally because I avoid chain restaurants, but after 2 previous attempts to eat in Canton led us to closed restaurants at noon on a Sunday, I agreed to stop here. We will definitely be back when we are in the Dallas area again! As soon as we walked in the door we were met with that great authentic TexMex aroma. I was delighted to find REAL nachos on the menu instead of the soggy pile-up most places give you. Generous bowls of salsa and guac sauce came with the crisp chips, and they were just right—not so thin as to be flimsy and not so thick and heavy as some. The flavor of the food was delicious and the servings were generous. My husband’s tamale was just right—not overly thick on the masa dough—and had moist, flavorful pork inside. His cheese enchilada was good, too. Our waitress Bryli was the best part of our visit. She was cheerful, friendly, and had great suggestions—including pointing us to the free soft serve ice cream and supplying bowls so we could take it with us. We wish her all the best! I saw reviews dissing the food and noisy atmosphere, and all I can say is I’m glad I didn’t see them and stay away! It’s a casual restaurant that stays super busy so it’s not a peaceful romantic place to eat. 😜 But it’s a very well-managed, friendly restaurant with excellent food!

First, we waited an hour for our table when we were told it would be 20 minutes. It was busy, I get that, but give us a better estimate if it's going to take longer. The people finally left the table that we needed. We needed to be outside because we had dogs with us. After the people left, we waited another 10 minutes for it to be cleaned. No one did it. We had to tell the hostesses that it was empty & asked if it could be cleaned so we could finally sit down. They all looked very confused. The woman up front, an older woman, gave us attitude about it, saying it would be cleaned & we would get a table when it was our turn. We told her that it was long past our turn, how long we had been waiting, & that we were told that that was our table once it was available. It had been available for 10 minutes, so we asked if they could please clean it. She finally understood & did at that point have it cleaned. Though she still had an attitude & just walked away, clearly annoyed. My daughter has a gluten allergy, so she can't have flour tortillas. She asked if they could make a quesadilla with corn tortillas. She was told yes, that's fine. She orders this at every Mexican restaurant we have ever been to, & you know what? They ALL will do that. The same woman that gave us attitude when we asked them to clean the table, comes out & tells us the general manager said they won't make the quesadilla on corn because the cooks are too busy to do so. I asked how exchanging one kind of tortilla for another makes a difference in time?? No explanation, just that that's what the manager said. They would not do it. I explained that my daughter can't have wheat. She said it didn't matter, that's what the manager said. I asked to talk to the manager, she said that she was on the phone, not actually at the restaurant, so no, I couldn't talk to her. Did someone call her to complain about having to substitute one kind of tortilla with another? Why would the manager, who wasn't even there, arbitrarily get involved in this unless someone called her?? It was weird! I said I didn't understand why it would take longer, to please explain. But no, she wouldn't give me a reason as to why it takes more time to use corn, just that the cooks are too busy & the general manager said no. Um, what? This makes no sense! If there's a legitimate reason, tell us!! And considering how long we had to wait for our table, & then for it to be cleaned, y'all really couldn't just use a corn tortilla? Really??? The cooks are too busy to cook????? So she ordered 2 bean & cheese tacos on corn tortillas instead. Our food comes out & unbelievably, they did not make her tacos. Instead, they made a quesadilla.... on flour! A random waitress brings it out & says "They said they can't make it on corn." So someone just made it anyway, even though we specifically said she CANNOT eat wheat?? And we ordered something else that wasn't made! What the heck??? Obviously, someone really dropped the ball here. She had to then wait longer to get her tacos. The only good thing about our experience here was our waiter, Jordin. He was awesome! We will, however, not be coming back. Completely insensitive to people with food allergies. Terrible, terrible...

*Having to update a old review as it wont allow me to post one twice.

I went for dinner around 7 last night with my husband, children and 2 family members. When we got there we were seated within 5 minutes but i expected a higher wait time as they were busy and had a bigger group but i was impressed. When we arrived at our table they had put chips and salsa already as well. We waited over 25 minutes for someone to come just take our drink orders; waiters and waitresses walked past us several times until finally my husband had to go to the front hostest to ask where our server was. We then witnessed him pull aside one of the waiters who walked past us dozens of times and after they talked it still took him 10 minutes to come take our drink order. It then took another 10 minutes for him to bring our drinks as he payed more attention to all the other tables he had compared to us. It then took another 10 to received the tortillas we had asked for and had to remind him several times about them. By this time they are not busy at all so no clue whats going on. Then when our food finally comes everyones rice was hard and cold, my fajitas werent hot at all and the meat was cold so we sent it back. The waiter even admitted that our food may have "sit on the window too long and got cold" .My family member then pulled the manager aside and spoke to her. Shortly later the manger spoke to the waiter we had, his attitude seemed short and aggitated after that then he changed his whole mood when we were getting closer to leave im sure because he wanted a good tip, but at this point im wanting to just walk out. The manager never came over to ask how our food was or even to apologize likr they typically do at any other resturant. As we were leaving i saw the guy who was our waiter beyond the bar drinking... while on the job! Im sorry but that should never be allowed. I come here often, often enough for several servers to know our order and names but now i will not return because the service has gotten worse and worse each time ive came. I will say they did give us a little off because of the issue but we never got a apology or anything, which to me is just disrespectful. I really enjoyed going here up until a couple months ago, now i wont be returning because last night was awful and we all got extremely sick during the night.. all 6 of us.

Also to add, my family member was also asked by the waiter if she wantes more salsa or just wanted to eat someone elses. Um, we were all eating ours so im not sure if he just didnt want to go get her more or what but it was a completely unexpected question...

Editing my review for a newer experience

My husband ordered a Togo order on a Sunday day evening about 3 hours before close. Over the phone, he was told 20 minutes. He showed up to the bar area for pick up 20 minutes later. The food was not ready. The bartender is responsible for Togo orders and she was extremely rude to my husband. She was also extremely unprofessional while voicing her complaints loud enough for customers to hear and even used curse words. He left her a 30% tip to try to make his experience better by making her a little more joyful, it failed. When he got home (we live 1.5 miles down the road) the food was cold and both of our meals were wrong. I called to speak to a manager and was on hold for 8 minutes and 50 seconds (yes, I tracked it) I voiced my issue to the manager on duty and she was very apologetic. She offered to comp my next meal and took my information. I was fine with that. Fast forward to the following Thursday, I came in with my mom and mother in law for dinner. I let my server know from the get go about my comped meal. She went to her manager ( a different one than I spoke with) and the manager gave her issues. After a few conversations, she agreed to do it but put it against our server! In fact, it stated on my receipt “server error”. When I noticed this, we asked to speak to the manager ourselves. She assured me that it would get fixed and it wouldn’t go against our server. I went back a few days later and found out it did go against her and she had to call the owner on it. The manager lied straight to my face and punished our wonderful server for something a highly unprofessional bar tender did.

If you want a better experience with better food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, come to El Sombrero. Jalapeño Tree has lost my business and my families.

I frequent Jalapeno Tree often and have found that nothing is consistent. At times I will get really good service with great food but other times the latter. In fact, this weekend I visited with my fiance and experience mediocre service (order taken down wrong and then blamed on the cooks) and my order tasted...
