Biggest restaurant let down of my life to date. This was by far the worst experience at a food joint. We decided to try "the world famous" Dairy Palace because of all the reviews and hype, but that's just it, HYPE! First thing you notice is how crowded it is and not just because of the amount of people. The set up is crammed and tables are very close together. If you want a quieter meal time don't eat here. The acoustics are great if you're a band or a musician, but are terrible if you're someone wanting to enjoy a nice meal. Next, make a note that ALL their fried food is cooked in peanut oil and unless you tell them they won't keep other food separate from areas were peanut products are. We ordered our child a grilled cheese and bagged chips because it was the only thing they could guarantee would not have come into contact with peanut products. The grilled cheese cost $4.29 without the side and was smaller than what you make at home. My other child got the bacon burger which cost $7.19 without a side and then they charged .79¢ for a slice of cheese. The bacon burger was a joke, other places have better ones by far, plus it was cold and the cheese we paid extra for wasn't even melted. My husband got the double burger which also was $7.19 for just the burger and it looked like one you get from Wendy's but with a bland taste. Thirty minutes later after we got home he was sick and vomiting non stop, he hasn't ate anything else. I got a Patty melt which was $5.06 with no side. IT WAS THE BIGGEST JOKE OF ALL!!!! It was two cheap pieces of soggy bread with two partially melted slices of Kraft cheese and a small patty of meat. Whataburger has a far superior Patty melt. We also ordered two sides of curly fries which each cost $2.99. They were the best part of the meal and even then lacked seasoning and were a bit cold. Another note, the tables were dirty and we had to clean our own just to sit down. We also had to wait 40 minutes for our food. Why I don't even know, because the people behind us with 7 people in their party got all their food and left before we ever had ours. I tried to get someone's attention to let them know about all the issues but was ignored and looked at like I was crazy for even being upset. Also the gourmet ice cream is not even gourmet ice cream at all. It's Blue Bell, just simple Blue Bell Ice Cream, same flavors that you can go down the street to Walmart and get by the gallon. They charge $3.95 for one scoop in a cone or waffle bowl. I can get a gallon for less and buy a box of cones for $2. This place is either "famous" because people are easily persuaded and have low expectations of good food or because workers/affiliated people have made the reviews. I DO NOT SEE HOW THIS DISGUSTING PLACE COULD EVER BE CONSIDERED GOOD!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY, DON'T BUT OVER...

Summary: Terrible service, meh food, fun, clean atmosphere. The staff just ruined the whole experience. We were there on December 2nd. We went in around 4pm. A purple shirted, amulet draped, government worker glasses cashier took my order. If you don’t like your job, quit. If you don't like people, quit. If you think your burger joint is so great that people are privileged to eat there...you won't last long. More on her later. The lady doing shakes was not nice at all either. And WHY do I have to order shakes at a different stand????? More on that.

So the parking lot was full. Drive-thru had a long line. Hopes were high! The line inside was long. They had a clown making animal balloons. Cool. Clean place. Cool atmosphere. So I saw the staff from the line and neither was too happy to be taking orders. When we got up there I first went with the purple shirted government worker. I say government worker, cause she'd be perfect for a government job where you don't care about anyone and know you can't get fired type attitude. She was very eager for me to stop ordering. There were 4 of us. After every order she'd say something like that's all right? I tried asking her questions about the menu, and that was too much for her. She was very annoyed that people bothered her with ordering food. Then, I ordered shakes, and for some dumb reason, you have to order shakes at the shake counter. Why? Just do it there. I had to wait 20 min in line; just take the shake order there. The lady at the shake stand had the same attitude, as I mentioned. Later I went up to order for my wife who came later. There were two cashiers. The government worker looked at me and just walked away from the register, so I had to wait until the other guy was available. And he didn't really like his job either. Not necessarily rude or anything, but just apathetic and had that attitude that it was MY pleasure to have this establishment take my order.

The food was so terrible for the price. I really had my hopes up. My kids disliked their food and the burger I had was a $2 burger they were selling for much more. It was Sysco in box. Nothing special about this place at all. Would never go back when we go to the Flea Market.

Positives: The place looks cool and fun. You expect it to be a unique experience...

The food is ok, service is usually great, but the food is over-priced for what you get. The menu attempts to satisfy everyone, but it's just too much. Oh, they also serve Blue Bell Ice-cream incase you are ready for your brain freeze.

They blast Christian music. And to warn you in advance they do not play a variety of music, so you ponder as to why their menu has more variety than their music. After hearing a zealous Christian yelling "AMEN!" over and over, you just want to hear some elevator music like they USE to play. This comes across as pushing religion on people (they like to call it "family-friendly" music).

If you like watching photos (from the Van Zandt County Fair ) from ages gone-by, then you're in luck! Best pig, cow, etc. are for you to stare at and question what this place really is: this is not a palace, so, what is it then? A barn? A lost 4H picture depository? A robot factory? Who knows.

They do keep a pretty clean place! They are always cleaning to some degree. The staff is very mechanical to the point you feel like you're dealing with people who lost their souls to Capitalism (it's kind of scary).

They had a remodel but failed to remodel their restrooms. They are tiny and the seniors who frequent this place have no issue with stinking-up the tiny area. I was so hoping they would expand the restrooms as their tiny size makes movement difficult. You will know what the inside of the large intestine of a senior smells like if you dare to use this part of the restaurant.

It can be busy, at times, so be prepared to...
