Ok...We have been living in Canton for over two years and have never tried this place before. The main reason was because of the 86 health score...prefer mid to high 90's to 100. Anyway, we decided to try it after they just recently reopened after the fire they had a few months ago. We were hoping maybe some of the "new-ness" would counter some of the reasons why they have such a mediocre score. So I am going to break it down with pros vs. cons. Pros: *I called the order in and the woman that answered the phone and took my order was very polite. My husband said that when he picked up the food, they were polite in person as well. *They packed the to-go order very nicely. Everything I ordered was there and they put it in a little box to make it easy to carry. *The portions were good...they gave us our money worth's. *The food was very fresh...didn't taste old or as if it had been sitting or made the previous day. Cons: -The lack of salt and seasoning. Ok, we are in the south and seasoning is very important to southerners. When I tell you that some of the food I ordered had no salt, I mean no salt. *Collard Greens - They taste like you went out in the yard, pulled some leaves off the tree and blanched them in water. Oh my, these are the most tasteless greens I have ever had in my life. I am a cook and my family are true southerners...salt and/or salted meat or smoked meat, ham hocks, fat back, smoked pork neckbones or turkey...something. I may sometime add vinegar to my greens...I like a little tang. They could have cooked these greens an hour or so longer...had too much chew. We here in the south do not eat greens for their nutritional value...this is not kale. Cook them greens please. If you need them to break down fast...some folks add a little sugar to them while they are cooking. We had to doctor these greens up just to make them palatable. I may just put them in a pot to see if we can break them down...lol. *Pulled Pork - I didn't eat any, but my husband loves pulled pork. He is from Memphis and they know the pig. As my husband stated "it looked like and tasted like shredded wood chips." Dry...just dry....where is the fat? Who told you to remove the fat? The fat gives it flavor and makes it succulent...mix it in please. Again, where's the salt...seasoning? I had to doctor this pork up as well. I added about 6 or so seasonings I had in my cupboard just so that my husband was able to get it down. I even added some oil to it to mimic fat...crazy. Again, salt/seasoning was the key thing missing from basically all of the food. It wasn't enough smokiness to replace the fact there was no seasoning. If they would just come up with a good BBQ rub, season and cook those greens...add the fat back into the pulled pork, they would be ranking as at least good BBQ. Georgia in general, to me, don't have great BBQ. The best I have had are in Memphis and in the Carolinas. The take away...I should start a go-fund-me account for Williams Brothers for folks to contribute to the purchase of salt/seasonings. I am concerned because you have folks from all over the US visiting the south and expecting some degree of high blood pressure and cardiac arrest when they eat true southern food...lol...just...
Read moreI have lived in the Canton area for 2.5 years. Well I finally found the motivation for come to this place and try out the food... my BIGGEST regret, was not coming here 2.5 years earlier! Hands DOWN the BEST BBQ I have eatin in Georgia. As soon as you open that door is smells like someone is smoking a Brisket in a Sauna! All the smells of meat and wood left me mouth watering! The stuffed (bacon wrapped) Jalapeños is a must have recommendation for an appetizer. But don't eat it solo, because there are so many you won't have space for food! For my meal I tried the hamburger steak. Absolutely wow! Came out and served medium (I personally like my red meat at a medium rare) but the steak was so juicy I didn't even notice or care! The steak sauce that came with, had an awesome flavor as well! Reminded me of an A1 but with extra love added to it! BBQ sauses were so delicious full of flavor! I cant wait to come back and try all of them! I had a side of Mac and Cheese, which in my opinion was a 6/10. I personally prefer my Mac to be very Cheesy and stringy. But the flavor itself was really good. Aaaaaand the coleslaw! I judge a restaurant by its slaw and I'm gonna say this... (sorry mom) but this was one of the best slaps if ever had! Crunchy, creamy, and a little sweet! Absolutely incredible! After I finished up, I was about to to leave and decided to grab a slice of chocolate and coconut pie! My girlfriend seemed to love the coconut pie and I ate the chocolate pie. Awesome flavor, great consistency in the filling, the topping was perfect! I cannot wait to come by again and try even more food! If you're looking for a spot to eat, do NOT pass this place up! 10/10 experience and...
Read moreQuite a disappointing visit. We ordered off the menu but probably out of their wheelhouse ( BBQ burger and a philly chicken cheese steak) The waitress was dis-interested and we sat there for 20 minutes as she served other tables. Also there was a family who had two really misbehaved children who screamed for 25 minutes, making the experience pretty bad.
We asked our waitress if she could put in an order of baby back ribs and BBQ chicken for take out when we were close to leaving. She forgot (terrible or new waitress, but bad nonetheless).
So, I left our table to put in the order.... got home and saw we got regular ribs, not Baby Back.... the BBQ chicken looked dried out and was not edible in our opinion. The very small portion of BBQ sauce they provide is inadequate for two meat platters....
I won't be back. One manager asked me why I was sitting at a high top by the bar and I explained that i was waiting for a takeout order, I asked if it was ok to sit there and she said "Absolutely" ( good manager) then about 2 minutes later another "manager" said to me , go sit with your wife and I'll bring you your take out".... She was gruff and not customer focused. When I explained that I would rather wait there and watch the ball game, she said, well... do what you want... really?
Getting in and out of the parking lot is a mess as you have long lines of traffic coming out of the shopping center and it is very difficult to egress from the other entrance.
The place smells great, our experience with the people was terrible, the waitresses seem very inexperienced and the takeout counter could not get our order right. The managers need additional training. Happy July 4th,...
