First time at Barunch - Food was great! eggs cooked perfect. Unfortunately, the service was poor. We sat at the bar - small bar with maybe 10 seats. Restaurant and bar was not overcrowded and there seemed to be plenty of staff. Yet, it took at least 5 minutes before we were asked about drinks. At least another 15 minutes before the bartender took our food order - this is not an exaggeration. Very frustrating because the bartender was working right in front of us, so we know she was seeing us just sit there for so long. The problem was they had the bartender waiting at least 2 tables, tending the bar without a bar back and was overwhelmed with drink orders from the other servers. At least one other table became very upset with the poor service and they were quite vocal about it. As we left, we stopped to tell the manager how we thought the food was great but the bartender was overwhelmed and the service was so poor - His response was to blame the problems on rude customers and a short staff. You could tell our attempt at constructive criticism went in one ear and out the next. We'd normally give them a second chance but with the attitude of the manager, we'll not...
Read moreThe staff were very genuinely welcoming from the second we entered this lightly appointed restaurant. Our waitress handled our introduction to the menu like the consummate professional that she is and before you could say Jiminy Cricket" I had a screwdriver in my hand and a smile on my face. She then delivered our food which was my first helping of corned beef hash in maybe a decade in the form of "Corned Beef Hash Benedict" or something along those lines which as it turned out was a pretty smart direction to head in as it (a) tasted great, (b) was just the right size portion, (c) had just the right balance of healthy and heart-attack (d) was perfectly cooked eggs-wise AND corned beef-wise. Somehow the eggs were the biggest freaking suckers I had ever encountered. Maybe chickens are bigger in Florida than they are in Illinois, maybe Floridians eat dinosaur eggs for breakfast. Not sure but the two eggs really filled me up and the rest of the package was just as rewarding and worthwhile. Best part of the breakfast: the feller that owns the place didn't have to bounce me out of the joint after making me pay triple the price for getting drunk...
Read moreI came to Ba-Runch with the expectation to be served elevated dishes, and for a nicer dining experience. The first half of our time here was quite enjoyable the waitress was beyond hospitable, the drinks were good and one of the owners came by to check on us several times which was much appreciated. The only odd during the appetizers was that we ordered iced coffee and was given. Cup of ice and hot coffee instead of iced coffee. Unfortunately this experience did not continue once the food came out, my plate was cold… not just one item, the entire meal as if it was sitting out on a counter for hours. I politely asked for them to make another (lobster Benedict) to have it once again come out cold, and they reheated the hash browns that they had served the first time. I ended up just not finishing my meal and paying the full tab of $200+. The only redeeming qualities of this establishment is the baker who makes the cinna-roll as it was better than I could have asked for. Hopefully they can get it together, they are relatively new around Cape Coral, and probably need more time to work out the kinks. I hope to see improvement as the concept...
