TLDR: ORDER DESSERT! or your missing brain cells 3.6/5 overall (I picked 4 because of the desert, I find it rare that a place has multiple solid dessert options) This is an in-depth review of my experience at Two Meatballs in Cape Coral. I'm not from the area, but overall, I would come back. My rating is based on my expectations of a restaurant in a similar caliber, so a score of 1 does not mean McDonald's quality, but rather the lowest score for a restaurant that would offer comparable service and food. The scale is 1-5, with 5 meaning I was thoroughly impressed. Atmosphere: 5/5 The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and whoever did the decor did an amazing job. Everywhere you look, there is something interesting and intricate to admire. Service: 4.5/5 The service was great. Main Dish (I ordered a classic italian seafood dish): Presentation: 5/5 The dish was plated very nicely. Quality: 4/5 They are not using cheap ingredients, which is appreciated. Taste: 2.5/5 While the food was good, I wasn't left wowed. If i were to come back i will try something different Appetizers - Garlic knots: 4.5/5 Everyone loved the bread. However, I deducted half a point because, in my opinion, they had too much oil on them. (Suggestion for the restaurant: maybe give extra oil on the side instead.) Calamari - Presentation: 3/5 It's calamari, so I wasn't expecting a high score on presentation. Taste: 1/5 It left a bad aftertaste in my mouth, and I did not want to continue eating it. The fryer was probably dirty. Other people at my table said the peppers that came with it were delicious, but I did not try them. Quality: 3.5/5 I would assume they weren't made fresh (typically, they come frozen), but the texture was good (not chewy). Meatballs: The meatballs are the whole reason I decided to write this review. This place is called Two Meatballs, and I was extremely excited to try them. Unfortunately, I was extremely let down once I tried them. Presentation: 5/5 The meatballs looked amazing, and the portions were great. Quality: 5/5 I could tell they used high-quality meats and sauce. Taste: 2.5/5 They were mid at best. Keep in mind that they are still good, and this is relative to other places I've had good meatballs from (we are not comparing them to Subway). Overall, I was disappointed with the meatballs from a place named Two Meatballs. Dessert: 5/5 I would go back just to eat the dessert again. IT WAS (profanity) DELICOUS. Beverages: Water: 0/5 Multiple people at my table said the water was disgusting, so I didn't even drink it and ordered a soda instead. Soda: 3/5 The fountain soda was alright. I should have asked if they had any bottled beverages. Other notes - Order pizza well-done: I did not eat the pizza, but the table behind me had one that looked amazing. However, the pizza given to my table looked not very good (the people eating it did not complain; this is just based on my observation). I'm assuming the other table ordered it well-done, and I would recommend doing that. I would try the pizza if I go back. Restroom: It was a frustrating experience. The bathroom was barely better than a gas station sanitation wise. The toilet paper was too big for the dispenser so it wouldn't come out, which was annoying. I would recommend avoiding the restroom if possible. I have been in some very aesthetically pleasing restrooms, and this one was just okay, not bad. (The women's restroom reportedly did not have...
Read moreTonight was a first for me. Every expectation was met and exceeded with our first visit to Two Meatballs in the Kitchen.. Thank you. We were seated in the upper dining area and were promptly and warmly greeted by Amanda. We had the best guide through our meal since we moved to Florida over 4 years ago. The smile and the spirit are real and amazing. Thank you, Amanda. We ordered some Aqua Panna as we chose the wine, a Volopcella for me, and a real French Rosé from Aime for Aimee. The meatball appetizer was the balance of taste and texture both visually and in your mouth. The garlic knots made me feel like I was doing something naughty, and I liked it. We ordered our Cesar Salad and Pizza and discussed with Amanda how we need to come back because the Lasagna sounded great. Amanda shared her thoughts on why ordering one to go extends the experience, and we knew she was our kind of person. Amanda paced out each course, making sure the Rose was topped off as needed. The Cesar had a great "tang" to the dressing. Often, the creaminess overshadows flavor. This had a better balance of vinegar, which, after a rich meatball and headed towards a pizza, it cut the edge properly and cleansed the pallet. Nice work, chef. The pizza was beautiful. Mushroom onion and pepperoni. And old school favorite. The crust was the right balance of crunch and comfort. It had the slightest sweetness that led to the carmelization of the crust in all the right places. The question of dessert was answered without hesitation. Rainbow Cake and Lemoncello Cake to go. I was afraid I would start making sounds of joy that would make others uncomfortable. So we took them home. This was a great experience. We WILL be back sooner than later, and we WILL ask for Amanda to be our friend and guide for dinner again. Oh yeah, and the Lasagna is for dinner tomorrow night. Good...
Read moreWe have been to this restaurant about three or four times since we moved to Cape Coral and most the time are happy. Overall food is good although tonight I had the veil masala and it was ridiculously salty way too much salt in it. I love their salads and I have had this salad with salmon twice which was amazing. We have had good service and not so great service. Tonight not so great. Not a smile on the face of the server and questions we asked about the menu she had no clue. Last time we went which is a couple weeks ago the waitress was amazing and I can't think of her name but she was a pretty blonde with a very bubbly nice personality and a very different name but I still can't remember it. So, mixed reviews on that. But my biggest complaint is we run in there tonight because we wanted to check out their happy hour menu ( not drinks because I won't drink well vodka or wine) but did want to try some of their happy hour appetizers cuz we were on our way out to go bowling for the night and did not want to have a full meal. Well unfortunately they only allow you to get the happy hour specials at the bar but there's no seats at the bar so that's not really fair to customers who come in and want to experience the happy hour. I bartended for half my life and any place ever worked always allowed the specials everywhere. That is my biggest complaint about this place and now that we have joined a bowling league on Wednesdays and want to get something light to eat before we go bowling this would have been a place we would have stopped if we could have had some of the appetizer specials. But unfortunately that is off our list because of that. Just don't understand the mentality of a restaurant that only allows specials if you're lucky enough to get a...
