We rolled in late on karaoke night to have a bite and a beer. It's definitely a fun atmosphere, and the locals obviously enjoy the establishment. I'd frequent this place if I was a local because of the food and service. The Seared Ahi Tuna with basmati rice and local veggies was amazing. While I do prefer my tuna filet a little more on the tartare side, the sesame, teriyaki glaze and Wasabi and Sriracha mayo seasoned it perfectly. The filet was huge. Huge portion of basmati rice, and the veggie blend was delicious. He had the Rum and Pepper Painted Grouper. The filet was flavorfully well balanced. The seasoning didn't dominate the fish. They used the plate to present the glaze, allowing you to taste the full flavor of the filet alone, while givng you the option to build out each bite. I personally thought his filet was fatty, but he thought maybe it was slightly undercooked. Either way, we shared our filets, and we had NO complaints. The side Caesar was PERFECT. but I think they enabled me to order a side of anchovies. YUM. They were both so beautifully plated, as well. The Key Lime Pie..he enjoyed it. I wasn't a huge fan, but he said he'd get it again. We sat at the bar and were served by Juan our bartender, who we discovered reopened this establishment after the hurricane with his mom. While I didn't venture into the front part of the establishment, my boyfriend jokingly said it was like a mullet. Business in the front, party in the rear. I thought that was hilarious. He said the front end was really nice, with linens on the table. So I'm guess this would be the perfect place to dine if you didn't want to 'fun' atmosphere outside. Loved this restaurant.

When it comes to dining out, the service and atmosphere can make or break the overall experience. My mom, sister and I were visiting the area from the Detroit suburbs. Fortunately, at this particular establishment, the entertainment was remarkable. Lolas's voice was incredible; took our breath away! The service provided by server Steven was nothing short of amazing. Steven's warm and welcoming demeanor instantly put us at ease. His encyclopedic knowledge of the drink menu allowed him to expertly guide us through the myriad of options, offering thoughtful recommendations tailored to our individual tastes. But Steven's talents extend far beyond mere order-taking - he's a veritable showman, regaling tables with clever anecdotes and witty banter that keeps the mood light and lively all evening long. Equally impressive was his attentiveness, as he consistently checked in to ensure our needs were met, from keeping water glasses filled and also our drinks; offering more ice if needed. Thanks to Steven's infectious energy and consummate professionalism, our time spent here was an absolute delight, leaving us not just satisfied, but thoroughly entertained as well. In a world where good service is so often hard to come by, Steven is a true gem - a hospitality virtuoso who elevates the entire dining experience to the realm of the extraordinary. We will be flying in again soon just to visit this fine establishment.

Not even going to lie, walking in I was a little concerned and even asked my husband if he wanted to leave. The outside is like a tiki bar but the inside has fabric table cloths, glass water glasses, cloth napkins etc. So the vibe was a little odd but I had looked at the menu before going and was impressed with the selection and wanted to try the beef Wellington. I am so glad we didn’t leave! The food was all phenomenal. We had a decent wait but it was worth it. My husbands food was cold by the time we got it but the server did acknowledge that the Wellington takes awhile so maybe his was just done first. They don’t really have a kids menu but said they could make Mac n cheese or chicken finger “stuff like that” when we asked about a kids menu. My son, 8, ended up getting the fish and chips and it was really good. Service is very slow and we were even there before the dinner rush. The server was still very friendly but just took awhile for refills etc. I have never had beef Wellington before and it was sooo good. My husband kept asking me to not eat it all so he could have some when we got home 😂 The bananas foster was two glasses as on order. It was delicious as well as the creme brûlée. Just goes to show you can’t judge anything by first impressions.

Gene, if you truly wanted to know why we tipped you 10% on a $300 tab, you might have stayed for the answer rather than walking away. Where were you when another server cleared our plates and my dinner was basically being thrown out and no one, including you, ever asked “how was your dinner? Was something wrong? “. Nothing. Not until you questioned the tip (“To Insure Proper Service in case you forgot). No one brought water or cleared the dirty dishes from empty drinks, appetizers. Ordered coffee with dessert, which you appeared bothered when we indicated we would like dessert, and the coffee was never brought. You stated, “Coffee is freshly brewed but I forgot to bring it - do you want it?” Not after our dessert is GONE! Waiting tables is hard work. You think that if you take an order, put it in, deliver it that you have done your job. Wrong. My husband’s fillet was very rare rather than medium rare. Steve took it back, you were nowhere to be found, and got it refired, which was done beautifully but you never knew anything or didn’t care as you never said or did anything. My chicken Marsala was awful. Who puts cheddar cheese on Marsala? But you never knew as you never checked if everything was okay and some other server cleared our plates and she didn’t ask why my plate was full. We have been going to the Monkey Bar for over 20 years. The food and service used to be excellent. But obviously the number of people who come and go no longer requires the need for providing quality food and excellent service. I am guessing my review will be ignored just as our table was. We will not be back and that will probably be scoffed. The passion of the owner is gone. The employees that have been there for years and years are not required to perform to a level of excellence. So be it. I can only voice my concerns and opt to go to any of the many other establishments in Cape Coral and avoid another return to...

Went for our anniversary after hearing the food was great. We did not realize that we went for dinner and a show. Sat on the interior, where there were no other patrons. We were sat at the table right by the kitchen under a vent that has obviously not been cleaned in some time. Within minutes of seating, we overheard who we assumed was the manager on duty talking to another employee. He was inquiring as to why the employee called the owner about a double charge on a previous customer. He said it was "no big deal, I'm not mad" multiple times. Then the employee went outside, and the manager explained that to other employees multiple times using, "no big deal, I'm not mad." Should a manager discuss the right or wrong of an incident inside the restaurant in front of customers, and then proceed to discuss that employee's business with others? The corner of the interior bar is obviously the employee hangout. They had multiple drinks, and a purse sitting there. We can only assume there is nowhere for the employees to put their personal belongings. Since this was the hangout, this was also the stage for the "show." It was then time for more employees to arrive at work. A female bartender arriving obviously late was chided by another employee, to which she replied, "Suck my d....!"

Sitting at our table under the dirty vent, next to the kitchen entrance, the manager walked past us at least three times (6 total) to go into the kitchen. Not once did he acknowledge us as customers.

Food: My wife got the beef wellington, which she liked. I got the salmon/crab wellington, which was not good. None of the food was seasoned except for the accompanying sauce.

Drinks: Old mint leaves and old limes gave the drinks a bad aftertaste.

Luckily, our waitress was very nice and attentive. With the cost of the food, I'm not sure...

I would think twice about going here. Let me explain my experience tonight for taco Tuesday.

So my girlfriend and I decided to try them for taco Tuesday. We walk in and sit down and was greeted by a very nice lady who was friendly and upbeat. (Best part of our visit). Then We order our drinks, appetizer, and food with our waiter. Drinks come, then food show up. We ask for some sour cream. The waiter tells us that will be an extra charge because everything is on the food (Taco's), there is no sour cream, but we did get a few pieces of shredded cheese and shredded lettuce on it. We ask the waiter when will our appetizer be brought out, he states he forgot to put it in. So now he goes and puts it in, he says I will comp the sour cream which is in a little tub which cost $2.50 each (wow). He the comps the $3.00 glass of wine instead because we question him. We order another round of drinks, he brings a glass of wine. He forgets that I ordered a beer also, I had to wave him down to reorder my beer. Ok so then mid way through my second beer he brings us our check ????? We were going to have more drinks but I guess not. Well we pay and just set the folder on the table, he then walks up and takes it. Normally it is not taken until the customer leaves but whatever I guess. But, I look up and he is standing there with the First Lady who greeted us talking/looking at it and us. Totally gave us the feeling of not being appreciated because we still gave a 15% tip. With all this being said you know what the real kicker was ...... there was maybe a total of about 15 people sitting outside at the bare area. I can tell you this was not a good experience at all. So if you decided to go be prepared for the possibility of very...
