Culver’s — Restaurant in Cape Girardeau

Had an appointment at Cape today. Had watched the adds for the seafood plates and we both wanted to try them. Had burgers and frozen custard here before and loved them. I had the 2 pc Walleye dinner and the wife had the 2 pc Cod we added the 6 piece shrimp to share. We were both disappointed, there was no seasoning in the batter or fish, kind of bland. The fish were in a puddle of oil on our plates which saturated the batter. We had to use napkins to soak up the oil. Let the oil drain out of those fillets before you put them on the plate! The shrimp need the same batter as the fish without the oil. The fries were warm. We left for our appointment and came back for the frozen custard. The special was salted caramel chocolate swirl. Culver's is the first place I've ever made a review over, and it's because of one reason, its food. I was sadly disappointed with the quality of the food, even despite the fact they messed up my order, giving Me a single patty burger instead of the double patty, (many fast food places struggle with that so I dont often care about it because it can be fixed) but regardless; the presentation on the basket was poor, my onions were all squished in the middle, and I just felt it wasn't the best they could've offered me. On the contrary the service was nice and the workers here were super kind, and the atmosphere was standard yet effective in making Culver's look like a nice place. Good food and great service. I had a kids' meal -- cheeseburger, broccoli, and tea. Did you know adults can order kids' meals? They used to not charge for adding tomatoes and choosing broccoli instead of fries, but now they charged 30 cents additional for each choice. You can add lettuce for free, but it is chopped and tends to fall off of the sandwich. It's still good and fresh. My son had the cod dinner, and the fish was thick slices instead of the thin, nearly invisible fish you get at other fast-food fish places.
