older women who was cashier and cook tonight took my order. at first my total shocked me because it was about $30 more than the usual... i get inflation prices but $30! that seemed too much.. but whatever I had already paid.. well when i got my food, it was the wrong meat! which explained the high total. when i explained to her that i had ordered carnitas, she then told me there wasnt enough carnitas to complete my order.. so i then asked for a refund and asked about the whole total since she had charged me for the wrong meat at the beginning which made my total really high.
by this time a young girl had started working and she was handling the cashier.. well she clearly didnt know how to count because the older lady had told her to refund me $29 and i only got $11 back! i couldn't count my change when i got it back because i had a plate in my left hand and there were 2 guys waiting to order behind me so i thought i could trust her to give me the exact amount back that the older lady told her to give me.. well i was wrong... im not the type of person to cause a scene so i didnt go back and ask for the rest of my refund. i may have been scammed a couple dollars but they lost a customer. beware when ordering, make sure you know your total before paying, and have whoever takes your order REPEAT the order back to you so you know they...
Read moreThis place is walking distance from me, so given I love Mexican food, you'd think I'd be there all the time... My last 2 experiences were bad enough that I'll never go back. They always get things wrong, get mad at you for pointing out their mistakes, and they really skimp or leave out toppings/veggies when it's supposed to be included.
The woman who took our order forgot that my mom said to go, which I heard her clearly say, then she gave major attitude when asked to put it in to go container. Then they were blatantly rude (I've never seen my nice mom treated SO rudely by staff in all my years) and dismissive to my mom when she tried to thank them for making the change. Like straight up back turned to my mom purposely shunning her while she's saying thank you.
Also this is a SHADY cash only business, which is not really a viable way to run a business these days.
Anyways, the food is not good enough to be worth the trouble, though some menu items can be tasty. The price is just too much for what you get. I don't recommend, as there are so many other delicious options out there close by without leaving the restaurant feeling like...
Read moreCASH ONLY WARNING This is a no-frills but excellent local taqueria spot with beach vibes, an affordable taqueria counter ordered menu, and exclusive outdoor seating that really sets the place apart. There is a nice little fountain trickling water with lots of beach decor on the outside eating area for this establishment.
The service was decent and suited for the type of restaurant that this is. You order at the counter and Be warned, you must pay in cash here and the nearest ATM is a few blocks away. Chips and salsa aren't free and you clean up after yourself. So this is a very casual establishment. The cash only thing is definitely an improvement that could be made.
Food here is great. If you're looking for taqueria style Mexican food, you will be happy with this place. Everything was good especially considering the price. We had enough food for 2 people plus a beer for around 25 dollars, which was great.
Recommended if you're looking for a local spot, nice outdoor seating, good decor, good food, and a decent price. I recommend...
