Have been going to the Hunan now for years. Today we took our kids car shopping and decided to have an early dinner. I have an autistic 10 year old who has severe food issues so I called ahead to make sure it would be OK to bring food in. Stopped and got her fries from BK and went to the restaurant. When we got there the sign on the door said masks are required. Where we live this isn't really a thing so I called and asked. The girl who answered the phone said if you don't have them we do. We walk in and a woman I have always assumed was an owner got very rude about the masks. I explained that the girl had told us on the phone that they had them. She gave us masks, but scoldingly told us next time we had to bring our own. No problem I was going to go get some if the girl hadn't volunteered them. Then she asked us to wait while she got our table ready. This was no problem, but instead of doing that she made mention of the bag of Burger King. I explained that I had called ahead to ensure this was OK, and the girl had gone and asked. She said yes, for little kids and our kids should be able to eat off their menu. Even going so far to say they can fry stuff including chicken. My autistic daughter also doesn't eat meat. She has texture problems. This is exactly why I called ahead about bringing in food. If they had said no it wouldn't have been a big deal we would have come at a different time when we had a sitter. Sadly, my other three love chinese, but rarely get it. If I hadn't called I would have a better understanding of her rudeness, but as I did I was highly offended. She talked to me like a child in front of my children. I will never be back to a place I have eaten at for years and years. Sad to think I wasted my gas driving there from Marion and also time I could have been enjoying with my children instead of being humiliated. It's to bad for the server who would have gotten us to. Our bill would have been over $100, and I never tip less than 25%. It's safe to say that after this experience my family will never be back. She was pleased with herself when we left even saying goodbye to us and our kids in a snotty way. Not much of a way to run a business...
Read moreMy family and I have been customers of Hunan for many many years. Over the past 2+ years, the owner’s friend David and his wife Eileen have managed the restaurant. Eileen has consistently been rude to customers when we have seen her there and we know this has turned away customers. Last night, may have been our last visit due to this.
Upon coming into the restaurant to be seated, we were literally yelled at by Eileen because we entered the restaurant when another patron was at the counter paying for his to-go order. They ask that only 1 person be in the entrance area at a time, and the way he was positioned, we did not see him in there and our heads were then bitten off by this lady.
As we were then taken to our seats by her, she very rudely reprimanded us again and said some other disparaging words. When this happened I turned to my wife and said let’s go. We left before we even got to sit down as I will not stand for my family to be treated this way. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service! As we turned around and left she again yelled something out at us, but I was not able to make out what she said.
On another separate note, I have seen that several reviews have said that their food quality and consistency has been off for a while. I would definitely second this.
Very very disappointed in this restaurant that used to be one of our...
Read moreAwful communication. I know everyone is taking care with Covid-19 going on, so I called and asked if I was alright to enter the store to pick up my order (they had a sign outside saying "one person as a time"), and I was told yes, it was okay. So, I entered the store, and got yelled at by a woman, saying "I need to remain outside until the first person left!" I was not aware someone was in the store until after I was inside. If I was told by the man on the phone to wait, I would have. After all of that, the front person asked for my name for the order. I told him, and he said it wasnt ready yet. No big deal. Then the same woman from before asked him what the issue was and when he said my order wasnt ready, she looked at the orders and asked me what I ordered. I told her and she found it, and started yelling at the man for not looking and doing his job (the man seemed new and nervous as it is.) Besides all of that, the food was made spicy when I asked for it mild, and I did not get the extra sauce I ordered. I am very disappointed in all of this. Might try again after the virus is gone. But wont go back any time soon with that severe lack of...
