I've been going here for a while because I absolutely love Popeyes chicken. That being said, this particular Popeyes has the worst and rudest staff. Nearly every time I go there I feel like I'm nothing but a burden to everyone. The wait times are also extraordinarily long and frustrating. Furthermore, you can almost gaurantee that they are gonna get something wrong even on the simplist of orders... This place is in need of major reform...
Today, I pulled up and wasn't even greeted... "What can I get you", said with an almost irritated voice, was my greeting... This type of thing doesn't happen just once in a blue moon... This kind of attitude is normal around here... Automatically I feel like I'm an inconvienence... I place my order (a number 6 mild, Cajun Fries, and a Medium Dr. Pepper)... Only two cars are in front of me, so I didn't figure it to be any longer than 5 minutes... It took almost 20 minutes just to get to the window... Once I get to the window, my order isn't repeated, I'm still not greeted properly and the total is the only thing said... After I pay, she asks me if I want a side instead of a buscuit... I say I'd prefer to have a biscuit... "We're out of buscuits", said as if annoyed... I choose mashed potatoes... She hands me my food and closes the window... I sit there because I haven't gotten my drink yet... She opens the window and says in that same tone, "Do you need something"..? "Yes, my drink", I responded... "What did you have..?", she asked... So I told her again... I paid extra for a medium, but she gave me a small... At this point, I don't want to even talk to her anymore so I drive off...
Cajun fries were fresh, so I though I was good... Nope... Chicken was hard like leather, it was mixed with spicy and mild strips, and she also forgot the fork/spoon so I couldn't even eat the mashed potatoes unless I used my fingers or decided I wanted to drink it from the cup...
In a nut shell... I am regularly treated like an inconvienence and talked to like I'm not welcome, the staff can't even remember simple orders and is disconcerted with what you get (Because they are lazy, inconsiderate, and don't want to put down fresh product), they don't consider that you are paying with real money for their services and expect edible food (because they obviously don't care), and they can't be bothered to actually use common sense when running an order to do it correctly... WORST SERVICE EVER... I love the food, but it's not good enough for the aggravation I deal with nearly every time I go through there... Today will be the last time I waste my...
Read moreI don't usually do food reviews but this was definitely called for.
This Popeyes is obviously notorious for the service.
My experiences was always great! The food is good, the employees are great. My problem was with the owner (I believe) of the chain here in Carbondale.
On multiple occasions, he has been down right rude and borderline emotionally and mentally abusive to his employees. On one occasion, i witnissed him threatening to teriminate one of his employees because the orders were taking too long when it was very apperant that the employee was just waiting for sides (it had only been a minute). I've also witnessed on another occasion him calling his employees stupid or dumb. My friend also told me about a time where he had ordered a to-go order, witness the owner give the order to an employee as a sit-down order and when the employee brought the food out to my friend realizing the mistake, THE OWNER, ONCE AGAIN, THREATENED TO TERMINATE ADDING THE BELITTLING QUESTION OF 'WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?' The last experience I've had was him on his phone, getting mad at the employees because the orders were backed up instead of helping them.
There is a difference between being strict and just down right mean to your employees. I don't blame the employees for sometimes being in a bad mood sometimes. I would be too if I was working for some just as mentally and emotionally exhausting as him.
I will be talking to a higher up about this.
Once there is a new owner with better management, this place will...
Read moreI walked here tonight to get food because it is pretty close to me. When I got there all their doors were closed with a sign that they were closed for maintenance. I called to find out if there was some way I could get food & they said no because only drive-through was open & I was not in a car. He said they were expecting maintenance to be there soon, but clearly they weren't there yet, so they could have been courteous enough to let me come in to make my purchase. Nevertheless, it would make more sense to have maintenance outside of regular business hours so it doesn't affect customer service. Also, I have had to ask them to wash their hands before serving my food twice before. One of the times the girl was sweeping & cleaning the floor & when she was called by the manager to serve my food, she came around the counter & started preparing in front of me & the manager with her dirty hands. Another time, someone who just walked in to start her shift started preparing my food & again I had to ask that she washed her hands. It seems normal practice for their cashiers to handle money, credit card, coupons, & other items from multiple customers then serve your food just the same. These are unsanitary practices. No wonder there are all kinds of hepatitis, E-Coli, & other outbreaks in America because people don't wash their hands before they serve you food. I guess I only eat there still because it is cheap &...
