We usually do lunch at Hooked On Sushi, but it's been awhile since we've been here. Glad to see the food is still good!👍

The dining area/areas have seen all sorts of configurations in the past, due to San Diego County rules, re: COVID-19. We just visited, on 6/22/2022, and you currently enter the restaurant thru a door into what was the secondary dining room. The dining area where the Sushi Bar was located, is now closed, due to construction. Also, at one time, they had an outdoor dining area, covered by a tent, but this is no longer here.

My wife & I both like their California Rolls. We spread on a healthy bit of Wasabi, then top them with pickled ginger. What you now have is an improved bite, with a little heat from the Wasabi, plus extra flavor from the ginger. We also love their Chicken Teriyaki, thin strips of tender chicken, covered in their tasty teriyaki sauce. Another thing we order is their Tempura, either Mixed Tempura, with light, crispy-battered veggies, & 2 large fried shrimp, or Vegetable Tempura, which has that same unforgettable crispy batter, covering pieces of zucchini, broccoli, butternut squash, green beans & sweet potato.

Good eats here. This place will be better, comfort & aesthetics-wise, once construction is finished. The current dining room they use, is fairly small for my taste, & when people start coughing inside here, which several were, I begin to feel uncomfortable. Maybe that's just my COVID phobia...

Adding to place to our list of favorite sushi places, and they have several locations.

We came here in a group of 7 and had a wait time of 20 mins. I personally think that it's not too bad at that time because it was a full house. When we sat down our server was kind enough to let us know that the kitchen was backlogged and might take more than 15 mins for our orders to come out. She took our orders as soon as we were ready.

Their menu has a large selection to choose from and it might be overwhelming because of all the good food items you would want to order. We ended up getting several rolls to share and they came out much faster than we expected.

My personal favorite and I highly recommend the Chirashi Sushi, I loved their North Coast Signature Roll and I enjoyed the Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll.

Also, we were told that a part of the proceeds from the sales of the North Coast Signature Roll goes to a good cause. That's a great motivation for me to get it - and it was also really good.

On top all the good things I shared here, what was really the best part was the freshness of the ingredients, how clean it was, and how generous the portions are. The rolls and the sushi were big and had more meat that rice/extenders.

We will definitely come...

I was getting off work so my husband went to go pick up our online order. It gave me the option to put in what name to use for the pick up order so I put his. The order was supposed to be ready by 7:18 PM and he got there at 7:22 PM and they couldn’t find the order because it was not under his name. It had no name on it but luckily, I screenshot in the order number and gave it to him. Then they asked him to wait outside because the order was not ready. And he had to wait an additional 20 minutes. I wanted to call the restaurant to speak to a manager but instead he went inside to ask on an update, and the same person that told him to wait outside asked him what he was waiting for. The customer service is so terrible on top of waiting an additional 20 minutes for an order that was said it was ready. We live no more than eight minutes up the street and the food was cold as if it was sitting there for 20 minutes. We love this spot but since they started renovating, everything has gone downhill. I do not recommend eating here the service is terrible, there is so many other spots that will treat you better. DO...

My family and I love this place! The absolute best sushi in the tri-city area, probably even wider out than that. I have yet to run into something on the menu that I do not like. My favorite is the Super Mario roll, it comes with diced habanero and I add masago. The garlic edamame is awesome and the sauce at the end is great too. The drinks are good, beer options are nice, and the sake is amazing! The staff are always super friendly and very quick with service. Always nice music playing and the atmosphere has a nice vibe. It is a little darker which seems it is meant to help keep it cool. Bring a sweater, it gets chilly. Parking is scarce out front, but there’s parking to the side and in the rear. If it’sa weekend and you’re getting dinner, make a reservation!! It gets packed and it is totally worth the wait. We once waited 90 minutes for a reservation and my over stimulated kids didn’t mind the wait because the fare is so awesome. Do not hesitate to go for lunch or dinner!
