Tasty House 1 (Vietnamese Cuisine) — Restaurant in Carol Stream

After today I’m giving this place 1 star. My issue with this place thus far is how long it takes to get my food but, after today I will not be coming back. I usually come here during my breaks to grab lunch and it’s usually dead when I’m there so it was a little off putting that it would take up to 45 mins just to get my food. Today I got a shrimp boil and asked for head off. When I opened the bag the head was on and the sauce was leaking all out of the bag. The shrimp were not clean at all and not deveined. Because I come here on my breaks I had to make due with what I had but, when I called to request a refund their response was to either bring the shrimp back for a refund or bring the shrimp back to get the heads cut off. Very rookie mistake on their part because if the mistake is on your end you provide the customer with a refund no questions asked. I couldn’t come back because I only had so much time on my break which I explained to them when I did reach out after receiving my order and the fact that they couldn’t even accommodate was upsetting. The place is new and modern rustic feel which was nice. The owner was very nice and made sure everything was good. He was very excited about his new restaurant, which he should be. The milk tea was great and would recommend. Be careful of the lid though when you poke your straw through, there is a plastic piece that can go into your drink. But that was not a problem at all considering how good and fresh it was. I ordered the pho beef and meatballs. The aroma was very nice. The only negative I have about it, was it had a lot of oily spots in it, which means it was boiled rather than simmered. Im picky about my pho though to be fair. Otherwise it tasted great. The calamari was some of the best I've had in awhile. Very fresh, not chewy at all, lightly breaded and a clean taste. Over all I rated a 4 star cause it was very inviting, good food, nice environment. Being tired of greasy American fast food, I decided to try Tasty House 1 for a healthier option. I found the restaurant to be an upscale, clean and professionally staffed Vietnamese restaurant with a wide menu variety and beverage options including bubble Tea. Tried the chicken pho noodles and bubble tea at lunch time. Restaurant does takeout as well. My chicken pho noodles were delicious, with lots of chicken, noodles and green onions (see attached pic) in a nourishing and savory broth, and included a side plate of fresh limes, bean sprouts, and a jalapeno pepper as on-demand garnishes. Portion size was large, which I found a great value. Staff was friendly and professional, and I even had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with the owner.
