My background: I always enjoyed the art of hair cutting. Fades, scissor work, razor work, etc. Over the years I’ve developed a good eye for what qualifies as a good haircut. In 2023, everyone knows how to fade at this point. But the art of blending according the person’s head shape, hair texture, style, head shape, etc is definitely something majority of the barber’s still don’t know. So if I approve of a barber to cut my hair it comes with a lot of research and thought.

Slim’s Service: I’ve been coming to Slim for a little over a year now and I don’t plan on finding another barber again. Slim has an exceptional eye for detail. I haven’t had to tell him what I want for my haircut since the first day I sat in his chair, it shows he truly cares and values the client. Every time I sit in that chair I don’t have to worry about whether or not the cut will be different. It’s the same clean low-mid drop fade every time. He is never late to a haircut and is very punctual on timing.

Bonus: A lot of barbers are capable of giving clean fades and then they suddenly forget how to cut hair when using scissors and cutting the top. ELVIS is the Best!! As a first timer to the MidWest I was extremely nervous when it came to finding a great barber! I moved up to Illinois from South Florida where the barbers are extremely creative and amazing at their craft… Luckily for me I gave a chance to Famous Fades and a Barber named Elvis! Each experience since the first has only gotten better to the point where I refuse to get my haircut by anyone else. So I’m sure you can imagine my 1st experience was PERFECT. The haircuts that I have had with Elvis have been done exactly as I wanted and he didn’t lack any attention to detail. I leave their feeling brand new each time. Plus the price for my haircut and beard were 100% in line with his high end abilities and my wallet! Now I Personally recommend Elvis to cut anyone’s hair, but honestly every barber in the shop had amazing skills… Truth be told you can’t go wrong picking Famous Fadez no mater your hair type or age. Last but not least you can also tell that the owners truly put their heart and souls into each of their shops by having the top barbers in the business along with sparing no expense on the way their shops look inside! My experience here was rather subpar. I am only giving them 3 stars because the haircut and the atmosphere were good. However, the reason for this rating is because I had scheduled an appointment at 10 am (opening hours) and when I got there at 9:45 am I received a call that they forgot their keys and so they postponed my appointment to 10:45 am. When I arrived before the scheduled appointment the person that was supposed to cut my hair already had someone in their chair which further postponed my cut(keep in mind I had the first appointment). When I was finally seated it was rushed because the barber already had the next appointment show up. After everything was all said and done I was charged 40$ which I thought was a bit high seeing that I've been getting haircuts all over the world and this one was the highest of them all. I did some research online and thought the price was going to be around the average (20-30$) according to a separate website but that was misleading.
