My husband made reservations weeks prior to our visit to Carolina Beach for our 50th anniversary. He requested a table upstairs. When we arrived there was confusion at the hostess stand, it took a few minutes for someone to acknowledge us and find our reservation. We were led to a booth downstairs, my husband reminded the hostess that he had requested a table upstairs, she said they didn’t have any servers upstairs. No big deal we took the booth. Our waiter took my drink order right away, my husband likes to have his wine served at the same time as dinner, he informed the waiter which wine he wanted and to please bring it with dinner. We then placed our order salmon for me and the waiter suggested trout for my husband, he called it an excellent choice. My husband also ordered the a wedge salad and asked for extra blue cheese dressing, salad arrived it was a good portion but no extra dressing, he had to flag someone down for the extra dressing which took forever to arrive. Our meal arrived, my salmon dish was good but nothing exceptional for the price, my husband’s grouper was a very thin filet, not very flavorful. When the food was delivered my husband asked the server to please remind our waiter to bring his wine. Half way through his meal we asked another server about the wine. Our waiter never came to check on us during our meal. By the time the server brought the glass of wine my husband had finished his meal, he refused it. The waiter blamed the bar tender and walked away. Coincidentally a few minutes later one of the managers was making the rounds talking to customers and stopped at our table. We explained how the grouper dish was tasteless and substandard especially for the price, we also explained the wine debacle. He apologized and offered us dessert, a nice gesture but by this point we were done, the cheesecake key lime pie was OK. We didn’t see our waiter until it was time for him to bring the bill. Our daughter had given us a gift card which we wanted to use with the balance going onto our credit card, which we have done in the past. We explained we wanted them to use the entire amount of the gift card and charge the remainder on our credit card. When the waiter came back he said he could only charge the gift card for a lower amount, something about the tip. When we told him we had done this at other restaurants he left the bill & the cards on the table and left, we never saw him again. Now another 20 min of back and forth with other managers. This was a horrible experience, the food is very pricey and it’s really...

First time dishing, brought my two sons after a fun filled boat day. Was never disappointed. It’s a little pricey for the area, but impressive that you get exactly what you pay for.

Inhabiting the historic Loughlin House, Havana’s has a remarkable and lush courtyard that is very inviting. You can dine on the front porch, outside amongst the greenery, or inside the charming home.

As you wait for your table, the bartenders (Shawn and Eric), definitely know what they’re doing! I had two specialty cocktails and they were on point!

My server, Pat, made sure every accommodation was met and then some. The service was very exceptional. For a casual fine dining establishment, they pay attention to many details.

Food was very timely for a busy Saturday night. Appetizers were fast and flavorful! (Cajun Bacon Wrapped Shrimp with Roasted Corn Salsa and Sriracha Aioli; Warm Crab Dip with Toasted Pita Points) There are definitely more I want to try.

Entrees were out just as our appetizers were finished and prepared exactly as ordered. Plates were presented well and flavors were more than what you would expect. Sauces were paired perfectly, adding a touch of sweetness to savory with the Pork Chops, while enhancing the Sirloin with a house butter that was rich indulgent; not ideal for those watching their figures as good food is going to be purposed with fats and flavor.

Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert, but the table next to us was over the top for the Bananas Foster they just ordered. A very large portion that was gone in less than a minute.

Overall, my sons and I were very satisfied with all that Havana’s had to offer and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for the best on the island. It’s a perfect place for a date with the beautiful courtyard and charming converted home. They also have multiple areas to accommodate large groups, while staying casual and family friendly for any group of...

We’re from out of state & super excited to try Havana, only to be EXTREMELY disappointed! I originally placed an order for delivery, only for it to be immediately cancelled. I called the restaurant, was put on hold so that they could “find” the delivery person. My call was then forwarded to a mailbox, then the call hung up. I called back. Someone picked up, then hung up. I called a 3rd time & was told they aren’t doing deliveries at the moment (which would have been nice to know the first time I called, keep in mind, this is the 3rd phone call) so I placed my order online. I was given the time frame of 30 mins for my order of kids shrimp basket & pleasure island grouper. I was called a few mins earlier than expected to be told my food was ready. Upon arrival, I was I told to go to the bar for my pickup order. I was ignored my several staff members, multiple of which made eye contact with me & continued what they were doing or walked around me completely as if I wasn’t there at all. Finally someone asked me if they could help me & I picked up my food. My daughter enjoyed her shrimp basket. However the drink was not given to us. I got a small 8oz cup of Pepsi for $3.75. My grouper was completely FLAVORLESS & not fully cooked, it was DISGUSTING!! I feel sick to my stomach from eating the under cooked fish, which of course I did not finish due to it being undercooked. My potatoes & asparagus were fully cooked but again completely flavorless! I put a ton of salt & pepper on them along with the lemon included. Everything was placed on top of one another so the breading on the grouper was soggy & gross. Considering it was almost $60 for two people, one being a children's meal, I expected A LOT more! We will NEVER be returning. I’ve received better seafood from Ruby Tuesdays. DO NOT WASTE YOUR...

First time visiting the restaurant. It was a table for two and we went around 1pm. We requested to sit inside and they sat us in the “VIP” area. We were really confused at first as we did not request any of the sort, or why we were being sat there. The VIP is upstairs and did not feel luxurious at all. It felt like regular seating which we didn’t mind since we didn’t request for fancy seating. Not sure why it’s call VIP. We were the only people in the VIP lounge and we were pretty sure the waiter didn’t even notice us until someone else saw us 😂 At this point, we were just confused and wanted food. They had three different water to choose from (we got regular). There was also bread for the table. It’s 2 bread per basket with honey butter. The bread was our favorite thing honestly. The food was alright. The flavor and quality of the food did not feel like the value. We got the fried catfish with fries and also the BT’s Chicken. The fries tasted like frozen fries, and reminded me of McDonald’s fries. The fried catfish was good, but the fries was alright. BT’s Chicken was good but didn’t feel like it should have been worth $25 worth. We didn’t get dessert. After reading some of the other reviews, I agree that the price of the food did not reflect the quality of the food. The service was great and our waiter was nice and kept checking in on us. The owner or manager even came to check in as well. Service - 5/5 - great waiter after they saw us. Food - 3/5 - since the quality wasn’t worth the price. Would we go back again? Not really. We were just in the area for vacation. We might give another try in the future but we always like trying new places rather than old places.

I was super excited to have dinner at Havana's Restaurant at Carolina Beach. Every time I took a trip to the beach, I wanted to stop by. I am married to a Caribbean man, so I was expecting Caribbean food. I stopped by tonight. It's a really nice, home feeling place: clean and somewhat elegant. I was sitted. I was expecting fun Caribbean music. This is North Carolina, not Miami FL, so I wasn't really disappointed to not get the Caribbean food or music. I was truly disappointed at the service. I could tell you the whole story, but, in a few words. My waiter must of had some important clients on the other side of the restaurant because every time she came to my table and she turned around to walk away, I had to stop her to ask her for things like, water or a lemon. She was in such a rush. Drop and Go! At the end, she gave me a bit of sarcasm. So. The tip was not as high as I would have tipped her. Moral of Story... People know real and honest service. Especially if they have been servers themselves... I can spot fake servers a mile away! The food was decent. Looks nice. I give the food a 3 out of 5. The volcano shrimps, and the fried onions on my entree had the same breading, a bit extra salty. The steak and mushrooms had a great favor. The martini had a great flavor as well.
