We visit Carolina Beach 3-4 times a year, this year we missed Britts because of their adjusted schedule. So we wanted to have a sweet treat and possible donuts. So Celtic Creamery checked both boxes. So we visited the shop, initially entering there were 4 young ladies behind the counter, it was a few minutes that way waited before being spoken to or asked " what can I get you". No one else was in the line at that time, but several families were seated eating ice cream. We both attempted to place an order, but as I got ready to place my order the young lady walked away..which made another young lady take my order. Which meant two people were working on one order. We looked up and their were several people waiting in line behind us (at least 5-6) While one of orders was being made a young lady sneezed on two occasions and swiped under her once with her finger, another time with the palm of her hand.(Not once did she make and adjustment to wash her hands or attempt to put gloves on. It appeared she was under the the weather or allergies. This same young lady had what appeared to be chocolate ice cream all over her shirt. We debating whether to just leave because of what we witnessed in real time, we pushed through to support local busy. When we received the first order the sundae appeared to be kinda thrown together, ice cream consistency was not whole it appeared to be very pliable and wet, within 3-4 minutes the ice cream begin to melt. Both sundaes were made and presented on a small plate, which we didn't understand. The young lady that made the second Sundae, acted as if she wasn't familiar with ingredients which cause Sundaes appearance to reflect so. By the time we made it to our car less than 30 second walk both of our sundaes begin to melt. Overall the experience wasn't a great one, I do believe washing hands is important especially if you are going to be preparing food...especially after touching...
Read moreWe were excited to bring our boys here for ice cream after a fun day at the beach. I noticed a sign that said âyou break it, you buy itâ as soon as I entered the shop. That should have been my warning to turn around right then. My boys wanted to look at the toys at the gift shop before we ordered our ice cream. Well, my 5 year old accidentally bumped into a round ceramic Christmas tree type ornament they had hanging on the shelf. Needles to say it fell to the floor and crashed into a hundred pieces. My son was startled and started crying. A nice young lady came over with a broom and dust pan. I apologized for the accident and she politely said âwe do have a you break it, you buy it policy.â I asked how much it was and she said $16 with tax. Iâm more than willing to make things right, but charging me full retail price for an ornament thatâs worth nothing close to that made me sick. I wasnât about to make a scene as I know the employee was just doing her job, so I reluctantly went ahead and paid for it. With my son in tears and my wallet $16 lighter, we decided to leave and ended up getting ice cream down the street. If you bring small children here, be very careful. They will absolutely hold you responsible for any broken merchandise without any forgiveness or compromise. I understand the ownerâs desire to protect their merchandise, but accidents do happen in business and strict policies like these just leave the customer feeling awkward and humiliated. In the long run, itâs not good for repeat business or...
Read moreI got the beachside sundae. It comes with a warm brownie, Irish cream ice cream, cookies and cream, and peanut butter sauce. It came on a plate. A plate is not a good way to serve ice cream. The brownie wasn't very good. The Irish cream was alright, but not great. I get cookies and cream ice cream everywhere I go. It was one of the worst I have had. The peanut butter sauce was not good as well.
My wife got the honey ice cream. She said it was alright but not as good as she hoped based off the reviews of the place. She did like the waffle cone.
The line is poorly laid out. It goes through a tourist style store. It feels like this place is trying to be two things and isn't doing either great. We walked in the side door and it was hard to get in line because of the layout through the store. The aisles are super small. It also had signage talking about shop lifting and ice cream on merchandise.
We chose this place based off reviews and I was strongly disappointed as was my wife. We went late so parking wasn't an issue but if we went during the day it would be hard and you would have to pay $6. There isn't much...
