We're a party of five people and we're told that we were only able to sit outside. The informed us that there's fans out there and that that would keep the bugs off of the table first off that was a lie. One of the fans weren't even working at the time. After about 15 minutes of being outside ( and it was a very hot day) someone finally came out and took our drink order it took them almost 30 minutes to bring it outside they should have told us all that we needed to know about this place but we heard great things about it from the locals. We told the server that we were ready to order but she said she would be right back it took her over 30 minutes to come right back so at this point it's been over an hour. At this point I walked inside and seeing that there was only three tables in the entire restaurant being used. This frustrated me even more. I walked up to the take-out counter and found our server standing there with an empty drink in her hand joking with one of the customers which I guess was a regular because they were asking questions about each other's families. After about 5 minutes of them talking I interrupted and said are you coming back outside to take our food order. ( Yes I will admit at this point I was frustrated and snapped a bit, but at this point you were outside sweating and aggravated and to top it all off we had three kids that just would not stop saying I'm hungry) she said I'll be right out. This was the only time the truth was being told because she was out there within 5 minutes. After that we had place to order and even ordered an appetizer I'm not even kidding you it took them almost an hour to bring out the appetizer I was beyond frustrated at this point shortly after they brought out the food but as anyone who has worked in the food industry can tell you if the food looks dried out and the plate is hot this means it has been sitting under the heat lamp for quite a while. They also brought us a pizza covered in pepperoni when we ordered a cheese pizza. The response to us was oh well it's just a free topping. ( That we didn't order for a reason) I understand it was probably a joke to them however considering everything that's been happening and again it was really hot outside none of us laughed. At this point we told our server to take the food back we no longer want to eat there grab their belongings and left. Strongly strongly strongly recommend to avoid this place. The one star for the food is basically because the food came out from being under the heat lamp for quite a while. I cannot comment on the taste of food because I personally did not eat any of it, but as a customer I can say this confidently a server can make or break the experience at a restaurant. 100% will not be back and will not recommend in fact the only recommendation I am making is to...
Read moreMy wife and I went here the week of July 27th. We ordered a Chicken Piccata and Chicken Marsala. The menu offered gluten free as an option…. Again it’s On the Menu! My wife asked for gluten free pasta with her Piccata. The waiter was nice…but we waited and waited and waited. It didn’t seem that busy but I think they realized the issue because they sent out a Caprese to eat while we were waiting. About an hour later our food came out. The Gluten free pasta was literally not cooked at all. This was way less than Al dente …you couldn’t stab it with a fork. To add insult to injury the Marsala tasted like it was drowning in Vodka…inedible. Off the rail. We were polite about it. The manager came to the table and apologized …again we were polite. She comped the two bad dishes and we paid the rest of the bill. We tipped the waitress 22% on what it would have been …even though at that point we went home and got something to eat at the house. But here’s the kicker …I mentioned that I would probably order a pizza from them in the future. The manager says “I want to give you a Pizza …just fill out your name and number on your ticket and we will put it on our board”. Being clear …I didn’t ask her for a pizza! …she offered it! And honestly it was the right thing seeing as we left hungry and ate at home. Two days later call to order a Pizza and I was going to order some other things. The person on the phone says she doesn’t know what I’m talking about..(it sort of sounded like the manager that gave me the pizza) she says it’s not on the board. I say “is that manger/owner there” she says “they are not around right now” I then say “what about the waiter” and mention her name …she is coincidentally “not available” as well. So basically …I’m thinking all day that I’m going to order this pizza and some other stuff and they stiffed me again. So twice. I’m pretty sure the person on the phone knew about it…and it was obvious they were trying to blow me off. We were never rude once about it … And honestly, I would not have written this review, even though it was really bad. I worked in the the industry for years. This place really stinks the big one! Worst experience ever. Good luck if...
Read moreupdated We used to live here at Carolina Beach many years ago and for my birthday my daughter got us an AB&B directly below our old unit at the Sands l - how fun! We like off-season because the tourists are all gone and one can do the things one wants without dealing with the tourists.
It is a Sunday evening and we wanted Italian food. We didn’t want to go off island to Monkey Junction or Wilmington. The only place open was Uncle Vinny’s. Even though it had a 4.0 rating we decided why not.
We both ordered Italian sausage, pepper and onion subs. They came out, on freshly baked bruschetta bread and no marinara sauce. More like a sandwich and less like a traditional sub. Ok… this is different… we both took a bite of our subs and they were delicious! The best I ever had. My wife would’ve preferred some marinara, but she didn’t want to ask. We both agreed it was the best! Seasoned just right, perfect balance of sausage, peppers, onions, provolone cheese and toasted in-house bread.
The sub was more than enough to make a second meal so we asked for takeout boxes. Instead of giving us boxes the owner took our leftovers, wrapped them in foil and put them in a bag for us.
For the both of us it was $24 not including the tip! We weren’t eating on the cheap, we ordered what looked good to us on a Sunday night. Bonus our delicious dinner was priced very reasonably!
Our dinner was a pleasant experience, definitely a 5 star experience all the way around!
Next time we’re down to Carolina beach, Uncle Vinny’s will definitely be a “have too.”
update We came back for cheese pizza, my wife had a side salad, I had a Peroni on draft, and we shared a cannoli to finish. Everything was awesome! My wife’s side salad was a spring mix with onions, grape tomatoes and Kalamata olives. I’ve never had a draft Peroni before, but it’s way more smooth than the bottled versions. A big 2nd 5...
