Great "spot" to catch a meal. The patio is great, dog friendly, and very casual. I was at the beach with family. They have daily specials to go along with their menu. We got 3 shrimp baskets and a chicken basket (allergy to seafood). Two of the shrimp baskets were fried and one was blackened. The fried shrimp were jumbo, meaty, crunchy outside and tender inside and delicious. The blackened shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The steak fries were the perfect addition. Lemon wedges added a freshness if desired. The coleslaw was fresh and a nice side. The hush puppies were crunchy seasoned. All sauces (tarter, cocktail, ranch dressing, and honey butter) are homemade. That honey butter needs a patent! We left satisfied before heading to the boardwalk. Service was great. They were very busy, but everyone at the tables seemed to be getting everything they needed and everybody worked as a team. Repeat visit. My cousins split a shrimp basket with extra hush puppies. The shrimp was banging. Crispy yet tender. Other family got the nachos and devoured the whole thing. The chili was meaty and well seasoned. I got the Mahi sandwich blackened. Talk about melt in your mouth. My side was broccoli. So buttery and perfectly tender with some grated cheese on top. It was so good, it almost outshined the Mahi. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The owner took time to stop by the table. You can tell that the thoughtfulness and care starts from the top and continues down to all staff.

Very happening place!! Stays open later than most places in Carolina Beach I believe as well. I started off with the Hatteras Clam Chowder. This is a bright chowder with tons of clams, bacon and potatoes. Definitely the best broth based chowder I have had around here. The pretzel bites were very good, crispy and soft on the inside. The beer cheese to dip them in was pretty good as well. Very strong beer flavor. They also had sweet tea butter which was made the pretzels taste a lot like a salty donut. Jenn had the hot dogs with chili and I had their flat iron steak. Very good flavor on the steak made of Merlot and mushrooms. The broccolini was cooked nice and the red potatoes had an amazing crisp to them without tasting burnt. I ended up getting the peach cobbler to take home and it was pretty ridiculous. ( in a good way) almost like a peach cobbler bread pudding. Can’t believe it took us 2 months to stop in at the Spot.

Ordered off the daily specials menu and asked to substitute slaw for fries. When my food came, the cup of slaw was tiny! I asked the server if this was really all you get. At first he said, "That's how it comes." When I pressed and said, "If I'd known that, I would have stuck with the fries." At first, he asked if I wanted to get a "side of fries." "How much is that?" I asked. "$2.50" Seeing the look on my face, he said, "I'll just get you some fries." It still took a ridiculously long time for the fries to come (my table was basically done eating), but at least they turned out to be thick, steak fries, as opposed to your run-of-the-mill frozen, processed ones. Otherwise, it's a nice, casual festive setting for eating out on the big porch. Just don't recommend getting the slaw as a side!

When we arrived, no one came to serve us for 20 minutes. There were only 2 of us. We ordered our drinks (two waters and one vodka soda), and then over the course of another 25 minutes they had to ask us what we wanted to drink AGAIN 3 times!! At this point we were there for 45 minutes and no drinks had come. We had to ask someone if we could order food (while they should’ve asked what we wanted). At this point our drinks finally came and we ordered our food. 10 minutes pass and our server came back to ask us what we wanted to eat AGAIN. At the same time we put in another drink order too knowing how long it may take to come. The food came quickly and was good, but the order was partially wrong and no second drink ever came (shocker)! When it came time to get our checks, this inattentive trend continued. Once we asked for the check we had to wait 30 minutes before it came. We gave our cards, and waited another 10 minutes to get them back. A 40 minutes check process is far from acceptable.

While this is going on, after we sat down, a table of 6+ was sat behind us, served, and out before we were. Our servers went to all the tables around us multiple times without coming to ours.

To summarize, we waited 55 minutes to order, 10 minutes for our food to come, had 35 minutes of eating, and 40 minutes for our bill to be processed. TOTAL TIME: 2 hours 10 minutes. While the food was good and the servers were nice, it didn’t make up for the terrible service we received. We patiently waited though and didn’t complain until after we left, due to not having the patience to wait any longer in order to speak to someone in person.

Right after leaving we called the restaurant to speak with a manager. The working supervisor Chris was very nice and offered to make it right. We didn’t want anything but did want to provide the feedback. I hope this isn’t a...

Last Friday I stop by to have a good time there, it was completely the opposite. We were a party of two, never greated and when finally some approach us it was in a very negative way. Then no waitress was assigned to us, I called the first one that I saw an order the drinks, the apetizer that we wanted was no longer available. No one checked on us again for drinks or to take the order. By then it was like 45 minutes after we arrived. Another waitress passed by and I cried to her if she can take our older. In a very rush way she took the order without taking any notes. After this we wait and wait and wait...no one checked on us. It had passed more than 1.5 hours and we decided to check in our order. They told us that the order was never placed and they will place it right then and it will be ready in another 1/2 hour. We decided to pay the drinks and leave the place. I requested the drinks (2 beers) for free for all the inconvinent and the waitress look at me like if I was crazy. It was very upsetting experience. We left the place and went to Wrightsville Beach Brewery, they were amaaaaaazing, great service, they treat us like people. Wondering if the staff from The Spot, did not like our color or accent, rest of the people were the same it was so obvious we were the only different one and the only that any staff never approach us. Too sad for them I wanted to make that place my "spot" for the weekends but...
