Great little restaurant. Been coming here a few times every summer since 2022. The barbeque doesn't taste like it is smoked, but it is very good anyway. Reminds me somewhat of the old Bill's Barbeque in Richmond, VA if anyone is familiar. While I do not care for the soupy macaroni and cheese, I really enjoy most of the sides; I love the slaw (it's on the sweet side, but it works somehow) and the hush puppies are absolutely to die for. Every year, one day of the week at lunch, I get a dozen of them and just sit on the porch alone enjoying those hush puppies in silence with a drink while watching the ocean. I've been doing this every year since 2022 and I always begin looking forward to this tradition weeks before we arrive. Never eaten lunch or supper inside, as I have always gotten our food to go at the window, so I can't speak to that aspect.
This year we stopped by for breakfast for the first time (and came inside for the first time to boot) and my wife kept asking me why we never did that before and telling me that we should make a point of eating breakfast there a few times next year. The food was great and the service was spectacular. The biscuits were excellent (I still prefer my own, but theirs play a fine second fiddle) and both my wife and my two annoyingly picky kids destroyed their food (except my son didn't eat his sausage because it was "too spicy." I tried it (may have finished it, but we won't talk about that) and it was excellent sausage.)
Long story short: Great restaurant. Love everything but the macaroni and cheese. When I die, cremate me with a bag of their hush puppies and my fishing rod and spread my ashes on the...
Read moreCute bbq spot. Outdoor window for to go orders but also tables inside if you want to eat in. Lots of food options to choose from. Woman working the window was friendly and food came up pretty quickly. The food tho was the issue. I ordered a cheeseburger. She asked how I'd like it cooked and gave me the options of medium, medium well or well. I said medium. It always makes me laugh when they ask a temp but the burger comes out well done anyway, as it did here. It was over cooked to the point of being a bit dry. The toppings I got were ketchup, mustard, onion and coleslaw. The ketchup and mustard were not very prominent and may have not even been on there. Idk. I'm not looking for them to be oozing out of the bun but I'd like to taste them. The other toppings were very light too. The flavor of the burger was ok but with how dry it was it was hard to pay attention to anything else. I also got sweet potato fries which were very bland. They didn't put any salt or seasoning on them and they were undercooked so they didn't even have that nice crunch or natural caramelization that you can get with sweet potato fries. Instead they were limp and boring. My husband only wanted a side of macaroni and cheese. He said it was good. It looked nice and cheesy. I didn't try it tho so can't speak about it. Maybe the bbq is the way to go here and not the burgers. I'm not sure. I'd try this spot again but would try a...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here for years, even before it was called Butts n Such. This is my first review and I should have done this a long time ago. Food was great! I had the fried flounder with sweet potato fries. Fish was super hot with a crispy breading. I do wish they had the catfish as a regular fish on the menu. The sweet potato fries were good but if you like them more on the crispy side, you may want to tell them because they are soft. Cucumbers and onions was vinegary and had a little kick, they were great. The rest of my table had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and all three loved it. Collards and okra were delicious too. French fries were fried crisp and the hush puppies were spot on! Couldn’t stop eating those! Mac n cheese was so so. I feel they could do a little better with that. Atmosphere was comfortable and typical of the many restaurants in the area. Small but efficient. Staff was great too, always asking if we needed refills or anything else. One of them was kind enough to step outside and take a picture of us when we asked. Any time we visit the area, this is always on our list of...
