We always dine, sometimes once a week, at Piccolo in our month long stays in PR and have gave top review. However, a recent trip to the restaurant was not at all a good experience such that we may not be returning or recommending. We arrived (my wife and I) for our Saturday 630 reservation and the waitress put us at a table right next to a table of 4, so close chairs could almost touch. The people were very loud and truly enjoying themselves but we knew it could be a problem. I asked for another table but she offered one right next to "loud" table. I pointed out that there were 3 other tables on other side of restaurant but she said they were all reserved. OK. So we sat at the table which had a bad wobble and no matter what we did couldn't get it stable. We were worried wine glasses would spill. Waitress tried to stabilize as well with no luck. The laughter and loud talk was now getting louder such that we could not have a conversation or hear the waitress. We are all for people having a good time at dinner but their noise was too much being so close. Very, very annoying. Food was fine but so loud it ruined the dining experience. Waitress was well aware as we pointed to our ears to let her know. When we asked for dessert menu (it was a birthday dinner) she said no printed one so tried to recite what was available. Because of noise we couldn't hear her so we just asked for the check. We explained how disappointed that she would not switch to another table. She acknowledged it was a problem but offered no apology or some type of accommodation. On leaving, I saw the 3 empty "reserved" tables and asked why still empty? She said "oh, 8:30 reservations" It was 8:00! She could have easily sat us there with plenty of time to spare. There was also no manager or owner available on a busy Saturday night to handle situations like this, which is not good. So we are not likely to return as we just started our monthly stay. Too bad. My advice: have manager on site to rectify these situations and not leave it...
Read moremy partner and I went to Piccolos and did not get our food until 1.5 hours after we were seated. During that time we were not brought water, despite asking for it twice, and when the food finally did arrive, one of the two dishes had a hair in it.
Our waiter took our drink and apetizer order, and said that he would be right back to take our order for our main dishes. Our appetizer came out quickly, as did our wine (but not the water we ordered), and both were delicious, but he never came back to take our order for our mains. Eventually we flagged him down and managed to order (and asked again for water). 30 minutes later, he came by our table and asked "have you ordered your mains yet?". We said "yes", but did not receive our main dishes until 45 minutes after that, and did not see our waiter again until the very end (someone else brought out the food when it was eventually ready).
when I was 1/4 of the way through my dinner (finally, at 9:15 pm) I found a hair in it and did not eat the rest. They ended up comping this dish which was kind, but did not make up for our hilariously bad experience
Many tables were seated and served in a timely fashion around us while this all happened, so I think our experience...
Read moreThe first time I went there we were neglected by the waitress. Today I gave a second chance to it and the same waitress, even thou the restaurant was almost empty she didn't gave us the table that we wanted. When I confronted her about that, she accussed me to be "racist" infront of everybody. It just show how low class she is. I was taking my friend to tried their food, but this person is totally disrespectful and doesn't have the minimum knowledge of what is serving. Unfortunately this is the second time, because the first time I told the owners and seems that they don't care. SHAME ON YOU, AND THIS YOUNG WOMAN THAT THINKS SHE OWNS THE PLACE AND THAT CAN MISTREAT THE CUSTOMERS..... I strongly recommmend the restaurant next door, instead of this. They were very courteous...
