First of all, food was delicious. Food was fresh and hot. We arrived around 4pm on a Tuesday and it seemed like maybe they had just opened? But we weren't greeted at the door and had to ask someone if we can just sit anywhere?
Area was dirty from pervious night, food was on floor and table top decorations were very dirty.
Waiter didn't speak any English but luckily one employee did so he was able to tell us the difference between dishes. My mother had looked at the menu online prior to our arrival and what she had wanted was no longer offered, so unfortunately she had to settle for chicken strips and fries. We were told the menu online was an old menu.
We are visiting PR and have been taking Uber everywhere we go. Uber didn't have The New Ceviche in their system so I had to type in the address to the restaurant provided by Google maps. Uber driver couldn't find restaurant. Obviously we didn't know where it was either. We drove around back and forth twice before we spotted the restaurant and finally got dropped off. After eating and ordering an Uber back to our condo, Uber app was referring to our location as Pizzaiolo. I wasn't sure if that was the right location, and employees couldn't help me either. I included photo of the Pizziolo store front, which must have been here before it became The New Ceviche.
Bottom line have a general idea where you're going and what the storefront looks like before heading out on an Uber and save yourself...
Read moreMy wife, 5 kids, and I had an unfortunate experience with what seemed like a fascinating eatery. I'll begin with the waitress taking mental notes of what we ordered INSTEAD of writing it down OR typing it into the tablet that she used at other tables. We placed an inside bet within our family to see if she would mess up any part of our order and as expected, she quickly messed up the 1st drink. Followed up with two adult beverages for my wife and I, missing the actual ALCOHOL! After waiting for over an hour and 15 minutes and only receiving one order of calamari and one order of fish nuggets, no refills, no checking in and seeing if we needed ANYTHING, we tapped out. Having never done that before and trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, our hand was forced. We asked for the check. Even after asking for the bill, the waitress and then the owner told us that the food was ALMOST ready. We were gonna pay for the entire meal and take it to go because the owner appeared remorseful BUT somehow the waitress explained to us that we should've expected the long wait and that it was our fault for not understanding the situation. Somehow other patrons were tended to with better care and with more "urgency" and yet we were at fault?!?! Too bad. Lesson learned. Thumbs down to The New Ceviche. Your food MIGHT be good BUT your service and commitment to your patrons...
Read moreAn overpriced Peruvian cooking attempt failure leading to an awful eating experience.
Sadly, I decided to share with my mother how delicious Peruvian food is, not knowing I was set up for a complete disappointment. Peruvian food is the most delicious of all Hispanic cuisine variations based on my lengthy visit to several countries. Well, not the case instance. We ordered “arroz chaufa” similar to a combination Chinese fried rice and “pescado a lo macho” which is supposed to be a battered deep fried fish fillet covered with a exquisite seafood yellow sauce. As a result, we received a flavorless, hard to swallow plate of rice mixed with some meats as it was “arroz chaufa” and a despicable plate with fish covered with some translucent seafood greenish sauce as it was “pescado a lo macho”. I had to return the fish plates forced by its repulsive taste and appearance, asking for another fried rice plate hoping some improvement without any luck.
In the end, I was charged nearly $150 for a failed attempt to have a nice dinner with my mother after years without spending time together due to my...
