Such a wonderful spot for a cafe! The parking got a little tricky with some folks backing their cars up, the FedEx delivery truck, and way too many handicapped parking that were all empty. They offer breakfast all day, along with various salads and sandwiches. Loved the decor, especially the light fixture coverings. Very clean place and I enjoyed the music. We had the ham and cheese omelette and The Connolly, a ham and cheese sandwich, two sweet iced teas. My omelette was delicious! Ham, cheese, spinach; so tasty. The fries were hand cut and good. It came with salad greens and they won’t let you substitute. I added toast on the side and it was the best toast I’ve had in a long time: thick cut, grilled added butter and jelly. The tea just wasn’t good. Not at all sweet enough and I don’t like artificial sweeteners. By the time I got home, I had to pour a glass of real iced tea. The Connelly was good, had a nice flavor. However, the bread was too thick and the crust too hard to eat. Only once slice of ham. Not sure that was worth almost $13. They have free Wifi and seating outside in the front near Greensboro St. Total with tip was over $40, kinda pricey. Enjoyed the food and ambiance, want to try their Mimosa’s, Eggs Benedict and grilled chicken so we will be back. Wishing them the best in our little town.

My wife had tried the Chapel Hill location and enjoyed her experience so tried it with her here. It was underwhelming to say the least. Wife and I ordered the brioche egg sandwich (5/5 - brioche bun and egg was made well; finished), brioche french toast (3/5 - no brioche, just regular bread, good otherwise; finished), avocado toast (2/5 - more "greens" than actual avocado: more like guacamole spread than cut avocado; it was so minimal that my wife was able to scrape off the avocado with her fork and eat it with one small bite; did NOT finish remainder of greens and bread), side of potatoes (2/5 - overtly salty, did NOT finish), banana nut mocha (4/5 - intensely bitter coffee but the banana nut flavor masked it well, finished), maple latte (2/5 - bitter coffee that the maple was not able to complement; did NOT finish). Total experience (18/30). Friendly service and relaxed environment. Recommend for the vibes just not for the food.

Breawkaway Cafe Carrboro hosts great service, fresh baked goods, yummy food, and chill vibes. We stopped in for breakfast on July 4th (a Thursday morning), and ordered Traditional Eggs Benedict and French Toast. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The eggs were properly poached and well seasoned, the English muffin was toasted golden brown, and the Hollandaise sauce was creamy, completing the dish. Even the potatoes served on the side were seasoned great and fried to perfection. Their French Toast was simply french toast, but it was served with what tasted like homemade whipped cream which made the texture of each bite taste like a dessert with sweet bliss. I definitely recommend Breakaway Cafe Carrboro if you have about 20 minutes to sit down for a breakfast and coffee!

UPDATE to my original review: Since posting an honest review of my experience at Breakaway, someone from this business is now looking at my profile on LinkedIn. It's fair to assume that they are trying to find me through social media. For what reason, who knows! What kind of people do this? If you get bad reviews, fix your business. Don't stalk people online!!! Original review: Breakaway gets zero stars for being chaotic, poorly run, anti-family, and anti-dog. We went with our dog because they have outdoor seating. There was a sign outside saying see hostess for seating. Upon entering the restaurant, there was no hostess, but there was a long line to the door and a sign that said order at register. So we grabbed a couple of menus, selected a table outside, and started to decide what to order. The tables outside had numbers, so it's fair to assume that you would give your number at the register when you ordered. Next thing we know, some snotty girl came up to the table and asked who sat us. So I explained that there was no host, and the sign said to order at register. Basically, she made us get up and leave. It wasn't just us either. Another couple with a baby got up right behind us and left as well. Apparently, the people working there have no appreciation for people with children or animals, or they wouldn't have a convoluted, chaotic system. If you have a host, have servers. If you want people to order at a register, have open seating and numbers....

At first glance this place is cute. we ordered an iced matcha latte and an iced chai with a muffin and a scone. Would have loved to order food as the photos in reviews made it look great but for what it was describing, it seemed a tad pricey so we skipped it. That being said, our order was still over $20 which was a bit of a shock, even for being in this area. The drinks themselves were both incredibly milky, you couldn't really taste the matcha or the chai in either of them - could be remedied by asking for extra I suppose but I wish the regular recipe just did it. The muffin was also not very flavourful and unfortunately had an odd chemically aftertaste? The scone was fantastic though and I definitely recommend it (maple and oat). The vibe is nice and the place is clean but it would be cool to see them lean more into the whole cycling theme! We were kind of holding in laughter at the absurd amount of light fixtures haha. Saying it would be neat if they changed up the generic clean cafe lights for ones made of recycled bikes or something, just to really drive it home - that's just opinion though. Overall, clean place with convenient and accessible parking, mid customer service, and slightly below average drinks. Definitely not worth the price quite yet but it has potential...maybe we will be back in...
