Had seen about this place on the Carrollton Menu, and had seen other good reviews on various rating sites. But it wasn't until a good friend of mine who works in the Carrollton area told me that he had been a couple of times for lunch with coworkers, and that made me add it to the "Places I Want To Go" list here on Google Maps. Fast forward a few more weeks, and my friend and I are going to go see a movie at the Carrollton Theatre, and we're discussing dinner options. Longhorn Steakhouse had quite a wait, being a Friday evening, and the other close by fast food options didn't strike our taste buds. I opened up the Google Maps app, asked it for local dining recommendations, and it reminded me of Hacienda San Antonio! Our choice was made! Bright, colorful, cozy, and clean! That was my first impression. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Skimming over the ample food choices, I happened to see the new Asada Fries, and wanted to try that and the Guacamole Dip. A short wait later, and our meals were brought out to us, and BOY was I surprised! Now, I'm a big guy. And I love Mexican food. I have closed a kitchen or two on Dollar Taco Night, and that's no boast, just a fact! But let me tell you, I had enough food left over for a late night snack! For a while, it seemed like no matter how much I ate, the amount on my plate wasn't getting any smaller! I asked my friend, half in jest, "Is somebody adding food to my plate while I'm not looking?!?" He laughed and said he thought the same thing was happening to his plate of Nachos! If you leave this place hungry, then it's your own damn fault! I went back again yesterday with the same friend, and we ordered the same thing only I didn't get the Guacamole Dip, and I STILL brought food home! Their portions are HUGE! For the price you pay for the amount of food you get, and it's so delicious, I will definitely be coming back! I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys...
Read moreI was just passing through and chose a restaurant almost at random. And boy did I win the lottery!!
The sign and menu advertise that they are the best food in town. While I haven't tried any other places in the area, given the quality of the food, I imagine there is some merit to that claim.
When I go to restaurants I almost always ask what the server recommends, and I am very glad I did. She recommended the Chimichanga Hacienda with steak. Normally Chimichanga isn't my first choice, and the menu said there was cheese sauce on top, which in most places I've been to can make it extra greasy.
The moment the skillet arrived I knew the server was 100% right, and my fears were dead wrong. The first bite and I could tell I knew I was eating incredible food. The skillet was sizzling and the cheese sauce was far from overpowering. I love the inclusion of mushrooms in the mix of peppers and onions.
After reviewing the menu, I also ordered the shrimp ceviche. (I'm a sucker for a good ceviche). It was so flavorful! It paired perfectly with the crackers, and the avocado on top was a nice contrast to the shrimp.
I didn't have enough room for dessert but I ordered it anyway, because I love me some flan! It was definitely one of the better flans I have had. Despite being stuffed, I ate all but the last bite, and then could eat no more.
I left with the biggest "food baby" I had had in years! And for me, a person that hates overstuffed himself, is a big deal. I HIGHLY recommend Hacienda...
Read moreWe have come here for a while. Our latest visit was not very good. Ordered the enchiladas suizas with 2 beef and 1 cheese. Also a ground beef taco. Well when my order came out it was 3 enchiladas with red sauce, no rice or guacamole salad. And no beef taco. It took over 5 - 10 minutes for someone to come to see what was wrong, it was not the person that took my order. I told the new person the problem. Well it took at least another 10 minutes to get my order, but also to as for the taco again as it did not come with my new plate. I ate a little and noticed that they were cleaning up to close. It was annoying, so we decided to take our food home to eat. My wife went to the Sauce bar to get to take home. The Owner walked up to here and told her the sauces were for take out only, this was a lie. It is for both dine in and take out, no sign stating it was for take out. They better not change if they want to keep good business. Back to the owner, my wife told him to talk to me. He came over to talk to me and saw we were taking our food out and did say anything. This was uncalled for! I will be going back. This the Best mexican food in Carrollton! But the service needs...
