A Delightful Home Away From Home
Stepping into M&J Home Cooking felt like a warm embrace, the kind you get when you return to your childhood home. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s an experience that leaves you nurtured both in soul and stomach.
The service is simply unparalleled. Even in the midst of a bustling lunch crowd, the wait staff are like culinary mind-readers. Whether it was a refreshing drink refill or the subtle yet flawless attention to detail, it seemed like they were always a step ahead of my needs. This intuitive service is truly a standout, making every guest feel like an honorary family member.
Moving on to the food, it's nothing short of extraordinary. The buffet brims with delicious, home-style offerings that resonate with the warmth and love of traditional cooking. Every dish tells a story, but the fried green tomatoes? Absolute perfection! A crispy, tangy delight, they immediately became my favorite.
Dining at M&J Home Cooking genuinely feels like being seated at a family dinner where everything’s been prepared with heart and care. It’s a place where the food tantalizes your taste buds, and the service wraps you in genuine warmth.
Leaving the restaurant wasn’t just about being full, but also filled with gratitude for such an incredible dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend M&J Home Cooking for anyone seeking a blend of exceptional service and a comforting connection to home-cooked meals. It’s an experience guaranteed to stay with you long...
Read moreIt's a southern comfort food restaurant. The hot entrees is fried green tomatoes, soft folls slathered with butter, fried and baked chicken, 3 different types of fish on Fridays, meatoaf, canned collards, corn and green beans, mac & cheese that could use more cheese, rice, shepards pie, and more. There is Brunswick stew and different soups. The cold bar has ingredients to make your own salad with different dressings, macaroni, broccoli & potato salads and more, desserts and beverages. There is a bar for kids like chicken tenders and other finger foods.
You can dine in for $9 (all you can eat) that includes a tall cup of sweet tea or choose to carry out. You will be handed a carryout carton at the door that is placed on a scale when you bring it back to the register. Friday's carry out will only allow 2 fish of your choice and whatever else you choose on the buffet which became pricey really fast. I won't ever do that again. I had 2 whole fried catfish, 1 fried drumstick, a spoonful of collards, a half of spoon of coleslaw and potato salad, 3 fried green tomatoes with a roll and a cup of Brunswick stew. My total came out to a little over $17 with tax. The food was ok and definitely wasn't worth the price of $17. It seems all you can eat would include carry out as well. Dining in is most cost effective. Either way,...

Your temperature is checked (on your wrist) when you enter the door, social distance seating, gloves are available (and required) when filling your plate, hand sanitizer is available next to the gloves, and one way entry/exit (except in emergency situations of course). Our used plates were practically immediately removed. Our glasses never reached the halfway mark and a server even brought a fresh glass of tea because my other glass "looked watered down". Due to limited seating during the pandemic, they do ask the you limit your visit to one hour during peak times. As for the food, they offer a great variety of homestyle foods, desserts, and fruits. You can't beat the price for the quality and attentiveness that...
