It was a rainy day for Leo's.
Hubby and I were looking for some brunchappeal(it's a word) and thought we'd checkout Leo's Brunch House in Carrollton.
This brunch eatry was packed! People of all nationalities and backgrounds(it truly was a beautiful melting pot of patrons)were taking in the bright and welcoming atmosphere. The waitstaff was bussling about with platters of fluffy looking pancakes, golden waffles and coffee galore! Our food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering which I thought to be a good sign. However, this is were my hopes and dreams for brunch supreme ended.
Hubby had the breakfast Chicken Fried Chicken. Hand breaded with Gravy, choice of home fries, hasbrowns, or grits and choice of pancakes or toast. The chicken was a juicy thick slab of country goodness, but was barely hot. It was the same for all the food, which is odd for such a busy and VERY well staffed establishment.
My food was much the same. Chicken Fried Steak( which if you know me, I will take chicken fried steak or steak fingers over ANYTHING else if it's offered) lunch plate which came with 2 side of your choice. I went with fries and fried okra. They were tasty, but just as my husband's food, barely warm. Even the extra gravy I asked for was barely warm( nothing a good stirring and the right hot holding temperature, can't fix) The Chicken Fried Steak, well; it hurts my heart to say it, was bad. Not bad in the since of not seasoned enough or cooking preparation, I mean the meat was bad. First bite, I thought( am I trippin? Or does the beef taste slightly off?) So, I asked my husband to try it. As he cut off a small piece and got it near his mouth, he said that doesn't smell right. The piece I had didn't smell funny, but the piece he had did! I had to send it back. If I send something back! I do not get something else in it's place. I just count the loss and work with what I got.

Read moreWe are in town for a girls weekend and decided to stop here for brunch. We called to see about reservations and they advised they don’t do reservations but to call when we were about 15 minutes away and they would put us on the list because we had 7 people. We called, they said they had us down. We received a text saying 30-40 minute wait. After 40 minutes, we had not heard anything so we go check and find out they have us down for 2, not 7. So now we wait again 30-40 minutes. Again, hear nothing so we check again because we notice people that came in after us have they were seated and have left. We were told that it was going to be ANOTHER 1.5 hours! The manager had a terrible attitude and when we mentioned the fact that people came in after us and have left she said “maybe they called ahead. “ we told her we called ahead and she just said “huh..” no apology. No empathy at all. She didn’t care. Clearly she knew they would have the business either way because there were people waiting
She needs training and coaching on how to take care of her attitude when dealing with a situation that was caused by their staff not listening to the number of people in a party. Fine, mistakes happen. It was loud so maybe they heard 2 and not 7. That’s why we were okay waiting for the second 30-40 minutes. However the we were treated after the fact is...
Read moreMy husband and I tried this place for the first time at brunch on a Saturday morning. He had the chicken fried steak and I had the chicken carnitas Benedict. According to the menu, my Benedict plate should be served with ancho hollandaise sauce but arrived with what seemed to be traditional hollandaise (no hint of spice or redish color). When the server checked with the kitchen, she was told that's how they buy it. I was surprised that it was not made from scratch based on the establishment. The chicken carnitas had good flavor but I was disappointed because I was expecting more heat to my plate from the peppers and ancho sauce. My husband's steak was overcooked and tough. He broke off part of the battered crust and revealed the burnt shrunken meat underneath. It looked as bad as it tasted. They surely smothered it in gravy to hide the poor quality entree. The best part of his plate were the 'over-medium' eggs, even though they were cooked closer to 'over-easy'. To their credit, when we brought it to the server's attention, she offered to remake his entree. We declined because our overall impression was that the kitchen staff lacked experience and we were already turned off. If they thought the first plate looked acceptable, why would the remake be any better, right? Unfortunately, we...
