On a Saturday evening at 6:30 PM, I found myself in a situation where I needed to have dinner within an hour and a half, so I hurriedly searched Google for a sushi restaurant. The initial impression at the entrance was a harmonious blend of clean wood and cherry blossoms – very inviting! Luckily, we were promptly seated.
I decided to order the Neko Roll, and what caught my attention was the inclusion of the special Negitoro Roll menu on the wall. In the US, otoro is typically reserved for Nigiri sushi because otoro is so expensive. As you notice, they are market price on the menu, so I was curious to try it a negitoro roll.
Our order arrived, starting with the Nigiri sushi, featuring choices like tuna and salmon. The tuna, at the glance, it looked like it might be Chu-toro grade. After biting, I was sure that Chu-toro (medium fatty tuna). It was clear that they didn't compromise on quality when it came to their tuna. (It was indeed Bluefin tuna. Generally, tuna prices vary based on the cut, but here, what I ordered was regular tuna sushi, which comes with even two pieces). After taking a bite, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! I could enjoy such quality tuna sushi at this price point was astounding – great value for money!
Next up was the Negitoro Roll! Traditionally, Negitoro rolls in Japan are made with minced scallions(Negi), but here, they sliced the scallions, preserving their crisp texture and enhancing the creaminess of the otoro. This unique touch, combined with the fragrance of shiso leaves, elevated the richness of the Toro. I felt grateful to have the opportunity to savor such an enticing Negitoro Roll at this price point.
While the other sushi options were also delicious, it's safe to say that I'll be returning specifically for the Negitoro Roll and the exceptional tuna sushi. I...
Read moreThis is a great neighborhood sushi spot! My first visit was a Wednesday evening, where we enjoyed a half-off sake special and sampled appetizer plates. Our server was attentive but not bothersome. Not a lot of patrons so it was a great happy hour visit to take advantage of the specials in a peaceful place. Great visit.
My next visit was a Friday evening and the restaurant was hopping shortly after we arrived! The food was just as good, with different specials running, which I like because that's a great way to try something new. Service wasn't as great. There were three servers but they weren't able to come around to refill water or take another round of drinks. Only got to have one glass of wine and one glass of water through all the food; and the food quality was on par when we visited during a less busy time. A little disappointing of a visit because I wanted another drink, but not the end of the world.
Overall good place, some servers just need a bit more experience with a rush but they were all polite and kind. We'll still be going back, particularly for the specials. And the hot sake, even...
Read moreI’ve ordered from here a handful of times for delivery. All decent experiences until today. I ordered the sunset roll. It’s supposed to be a fully cooked roll (pregnancy and breastfeeding friendly) and I was given very undercooked shrimp. Since the roll was cut, I don’t understand how they let this go out the door since it was very apparent that the shrimp way gray. I’ve spent the past hour throwing up.
When I called to let them know, she suggested that I just let uber eats know and she didn’t seem concerned at all. I explained that I wanted to let her know so they can check their other shrimp rolls going out for other customer’s safety. It felt like she couldn’t care less. Uncooked shrimp is NOT a thing. It’s not sushi. Shrimp, at the very least, is “cooked” ceviche style. Raw shrimp is NOT something people should eat.
Very disappointed in how this was handled by the restaurant
2 stars because this was my only bad experience with them but I’m feeling sick enough to never risk...
