Went in today to try this restaurant for the first time. I was greeted by a friendly middle aged woman that also seated me and informed me that my waitress would be with me shortly. As she was walking away she asked what I would like to drink, I responded "water" and she said "only water?". Then she went and grabbed my water and reminded me my waitress would be with me shortly.
My waitress came to take my order rather quickly after The initial encounter I had with the first team member. She wasn't friendly at all and seemed uninterested with my curiosity in the menu. After taking my order, the food was delivered rather quickly. The young woman that took my order immediately dropped the check on the table without saying a word. Clearly she didn't have intentions of serving me anymore and she didn't. I never saw her again, unless it was talking with the other team members on the line in front of all the guests that were also being ignored. She never came back to check on my food or ask if I needed a refill, she actually disappeared for the majority of my visit.
The food that came out was less than mediocre. The sausage was dry and was clearly held under a heat lamp to keep at temp or was just over cooked. The gravy was very bland, and seemed to be made from a store bought packet (just add water). The egg was not cooked as I ordered it and the syrup at the table was nearly as runny as water. Very disappointing food.
After giving up on the poor quality food, I sat for about 15 minutes without being helped and then was asked by a random girl if I wanted a box. I had to get up to pay, which is fine, but the girl who took my payment was yet again a different team member that had nothing to do with my experience. I was never helped by the same person twice, so I never really knew who my server was. I'm guessing the girl that took my order? You're guess is as good as mine.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and frankly can't understand how it has a four star rating. That's a VERY generous rating based on my experience.
On a side note: If I were the owner of this restaurant I would seriously consider retraining the entire staff in hospitality and work on delivering a higher quality food...
Read moreLooking at the menu, there are many different sandwiches in the $8-9 range, all served with fries. OK, sure I just had a Patty Melt burger for breakfast, actually I just ate half, but I was looking to get the Mac Burger described as a 1/2 lb. Patty on a French roll. My BF ordered the same. I ordered mine with cheddar cheese and bacon added. The service was quick and friendly despite a full house of lunch time diners. They carry Coca Cola products here, so for all you Coke vs. Pepsi fans, its Coke here! I'm a Coke fan vs. Pepsi.
The wait for the food was not really all that long considering a full house. Our food arrived and the smell of charbroiled meat filled my nose.....ahhh, I like that. First thing I noticed was the burger patty is round and the bun is more long like a hot dog bun. One suggestion I would make, that wouldn't cost anything, is reshape the 1/2 lb. patties to a more long shape to match the bread. That way you don't end up with a piece of bread with no meat at the two ends of the sandwich. I liked the cheddar on the burger, which was grated and melted, rather than the regular old sliced method. The meat had a good meat flavor and was not over cooked as with so many other restaurants. The bacon was generous with two nice big slices in the burger. The fries were normal cut and had a bit of a coating of some sort on them which added to the texture of the potatoes.
This was a very good lunch, not just because it was free, I would come back here again and pay regular price! This is a great way to promote the business and get the people to spread the word of the new restaurant in town. We'll know next week if the free food was the only draw, or if the lunch crowd has thinned....
Read moreThis is my go to breakfast stop in town! The food here is wonderful, the portions are big and the service is super friendly and fast. Come here more than once and you're pretty much a local. While it is the same Red Hut which the same diner charm and feel as the ones you can find up in Tahoe and Reno (and I've been to them all), this is without question my favorite. Typically, my wife will get a waffle combo and with their amazing bacon that's always cooked perfect and I typically get their Rosti or chicken fried steak and they're so good, I always have a hard time choosing which one to get. Of course, they do have daily specials and if I'm here on a Tuesday, the eggs benedict is outstanding and if I'm here on a Thursday, the corned beef hash cooked with a crispy shell and eggs over medium served with tomato slices is to die for. If you do this, I would highly recommend it with english muffins and eat it all together as an open face sandwich. Of course, lunches here a great too and their burgers are delicious. If you pay with cash and you'll get a discount. I should note that it can get pretty busy on the weekends especially on a Sunday after the crowds get out of church so plan accordingly. If you're a big group, there is a room in the back that can accommodate...
